  1. yes thats it, silly me mikey
  2. dont be so mean about it, i think its the best origional restoration ive ever seen i want it but wats with the towbar, slightly reduces the deaprture angle i think mikey
  3. right, my rear springs come in at 310mm front are 240mm so far ive gathered that if i put 110 springs on the front ill gain 0.2" whoch is 5.08mm ooohhh a lot there lol what abput the back, its that which has sagged the most due to the rear bumper on it probably want around an inch and a half-2 inches of lift there, ill probably not bother with the front springs then. but just to get it more or less level, if slightly rear high would be nice. mikey
  4. they are standard, however they will have sagged quite a lot and ive added a hefty steering guard to it. i already done calcualtions for it, overall weight of vehicle inc rear bumper + steerin guard etc = 2180kg 49% front 51% rear weight distribution 1068.2kg front 1111.8kg rear ill get you spring lenghts tomorrow, as im out finishing my straight through exhaust mikey
  5. im peeled up this way, although, im a fair way from wigan sorry for your loss mikey
  6. plan stan, ive got a 200tdi, and i was trying to work out what springs would be best. cheers aragorn mikey
  7. 49% front 51% rear of 2180= 0.49 times 2180 = 1068.2 kg 0.51 times 2180 = 1111.8 kg any help on that guys? ot confuzes me, im running standard 1991 disco springs atm, no idea what colours or specification, just factory fitted. mikey
  8. could this be done with a disco? im unsure of the exact weights but the overall unladen weight is 2.1 tonnes, add a bit more each end for my bodgings, 2.18 tonnes probably whats the weight distribution on a standard disco anyone know? im researching on it, probably a little heavier towards the front not by much though. thanks mikey
  9. my alternator interferes with my CB radio, i am told that you have to get something to attach to some of the wires on your alternator to stop this problem. what is it called? where do i get one? how much costwise? does anyone have one spare on here? cheers mikey
  10. sorry to hijack, but what springs would be best for my disco? i heard rear springs on the front would give a better lift and what for the back? i dont want to go more than 2" i was thinking about spring spacers, good idea or not? (doesent have to pass MOT or any road tests, just a field truck) mikey
  11. nearly every old farmer landy ive ever seen has grease put into it (think its one shot, the one in the guns) i use it on my 200 as its always handy to me bein a farmer nd all that. mikey
  12. 110 springs would be more heavy duty no doubt, 130 probably too H D?
  13. if you dont mind scratched/bent doors, then you dont need rock sliders. they will still work fine, just look a little tatty, which can be covered with strategic chequer plate. diff guard on front is a must IMO same goes for tow rope and decent recovery points i would highly advise a tank guard, even if you do have a towball anti rollbars do seriously restrict performance off road, and IMO its not too bad without them. you would still dare to do drifts lol. maybe, make sure that the bolts to the axles are not seized then it would take 5 minutes to unbolt them and strap them up to the chassis when needed. a lift isnt necessary, however my views have changed recently and now have decided i would quite like one (wouldnt need if i had a 90) you dont need heavy duty bumpers, but if they do get so bent that you cant open the rear door you could always botch one up like i did. apart from diff guards, bash plate, rock sliders, bumper trim, fuel pump fiddle and tyres mines standard and it is ideal for what i need (bearing in mind im only 16 and dont take it on the road) my landy mikey ooh and i have 110 shocks on the rear, which give about 1 inch extra travel (highly unneccesary, but they were cheaper than disco ones)
  14. maybe an automatic free wheel hub setup, or even better, have you ever seen or heard of the dynashift system in a massey ferguson, try one of those (if you dont know its sort of 4 more electrical gears in each gear.) like you have, in first gear, A,B,C,and D same in second etc etc etc.so if you have 5 manual gears, you have 20 gears. mikey
  15. these "de tuning"steps you have taken, sound about the exact opposite to what i did to tune mine, so it is probably right, and if its too lean, it doesent kill it. although it may try and bring in more air into the fuel lines (just a thought, probably a load of bulls**t) mikey
  16. white smoke could only be unburned fuel if the timing is out, and if it was water, surely he would have noticed that the "bounty", or now known as "plenty" was damp after holding it against the exhaust, maybe you just need a bit of black smoke to compensate? mikey
  17. ORRRRR, assuming its an older disco, have her climb out through one of the many large holes in the boot floor lmao
  18. get inside and KICK THE F**K OUT OF IT (worked on my mates disco eventually, of course i wouldnt do it to my own car) or actually, would i? mikey
  19. disco handles are renound for getting stuck, if so WD 40 and a screwdriver frees it up, then keep working it till it works smooth again JOB'S A FISH mikey
  20. a nice thing is having a PA system, im not quite sure on how legal they are, but im off the road anyway and by gum are they fun, cows get properly confuzed. also make sure you get one which wont pick up the signals given off by the alternator, it whistles like a very loud and annoying turbo. mikey
  21. well funy welder labels, sounds lyk something i would do
  22. make the breather come out of the engine bay and up behind a snorkle (if fitted), it wont be in the intake system, and you could add a catcher tank to it. or if no snorkle then high up in engine bay with little filter on. mikey
