Hi All,
just thinking about the installation of my winch and would like to re position the solenoids up out of the wet and fit the socketed lead through the upper wing via a waterproof capped socket. It’s a 12volt 6hp motor and from searching the forum I have found suggestions that comparative winches draw about 400amps at full tilt?
My rather long-winded question is would this cable be suitable to replace the OEM cables?
Phew…… sorry sometimes plain English escapes me!

If you do build a new mount would you post some images of your set up to give me some ideas
Cheers

Hi all, just wondering what sort of gauge steel most winch bumpers are constructed from to withstand the forces involved in winching. The reason I ask is I have brought myself a 13000lbs winch but would like to retain my military type heavy duty bumper and was wondering if it was possible to adapt the bumper for the winch to sit on top given reinforcements and perhaps a heavy duty tray mount. Has anyone done it?
It’s not me being mean it’s just I like the look of my bumper and would like to keep it.
Cheers

I know the feeling: mot in sight and then another thing goes slightly wrong and its another week. I had this intermitant gremlin with my 90 and it was a shonky connection in the fuse box and lose earth.
Keep going!
Hi Graham,
This might sound silly but is the exhaust secured on its rubber hangers or is metal touching metal on the mounts Because I noticed after refitting my exhaust it gave a strange noise (not a squeal though) at a certain engine speed and it was because the exhaust was resonating against the mount as I hadnt fitted it properly on one of the rubber hangers
Well its worth a look anyway.
Hi, Just checking is that right my steering wheel on my 86 (D) 90 is a 36 spline fitting as I put it back on and cant get the sodding thing back off without a fight. Searched and found 36 spline but just want to check before I buy the smaller wheel (well its easier than loosing wieght )
They were absolutely fine with the axles, engine, lift, spacers etc etc I have to be honest I was rather worried they might crank the premium up for anything other than standard. Although they did actually seem concerned in security i.e. pedal box, isolators, security post and other precautions and made a list as I related them .
Good Luck
James
Well just to update this post I rang around and spoke to Flux and 2gether and some others but the one that came out the best value for money on paper for me was Footman James @ £156 unlimited mileage and all the other bits n bobs thrown in..very pleased.
I think you can get it tig welded as tig is usualy used for aluminium I have heard of people using JB weld that is an American epoxy metal adhesive/filler that lists some impressive claims.

Hi All
Just finishing my 90 rebuild and thinking about the insuring it it’s 1986 90 with 200tdi retrofitted and td5 axles to give me the disc brakes back and front and a two inch lift.
I am 44 and have been driving 22 yrs with no smashes or bumps but have spent the last 15 yrs with a company car
What would you think I should pay roughly on the basis your experiences?
Also any feedback you have about good or bad companies to get quotes from.
Cheers
