  1. The one James gave you is what they normally look like. The larger one looks more like a 130 prop. So assuming they are the same length then fit James's. Your original could be a cut down 130 one or just some sort of heavy duty one I haven't seen before.

  2. Thanks will come have a rumage. I looked at the puma blowers but they spin the opposite direction so you need the snail as well. Interestingly in all the blowers I looked at they all looked basicly the same. The fan part look identical across the board (apart from most being opposite rotation) and the motors look to be similar size just plastic.

  3. Put new tyres on at standard pressure drive along a dusty road. You should see a strip of dust down the middle of the tyre the out side edges will still be clean. Reduce the pressure, clean the tyres and repeat. After a few goes you will see the dust right the way across the tread. At this point your about there you may need to do the front or back more but you get the point. This how we used to set slicks on my brothers race car. For reference I run about 25 front and 30 rear in 285/75x16's on a 90. I do tend to run them on the high side as I drive quite enthusiastically.

  4. The good news is I'm pretty sure I know what the problem with the heater fan was. The bad news is when I put the fan direct across a battery to test it the smoke got out....... so has anyone got one going cheap and local. Failing that I might try a freelander 2 blower as they spin the same way as defender (unlike most blowers) and they are around £20 S/H. A defender one on the other hand only seem to be new and between £50 and £150.

  5. I have an electric fan on the 110 (disco 200tdi) it's on a manual switch. The only time I need it is when towing but I wouldn't be without a fan. On the ibex I've drilled and tapped the thermostat housing for a temperature switch.

This seems to work really well (only driven it a few times as it's not registered yet). However I do need to change it for a higher temperature range as it cuts in to early.

Have you got train weight on there too? Guessing that will be needed to be able to tow?

Sorry yes it's gross vehicle then train then axles 1,2,3 etc but as said you only have to have manufacturer and vin to pass according to my tester. When I re-make mine I will have gvw gtw and axles because it suits me and covers me for towing.

Yes all are easy fixes if you were allowed and the emissions tester weren't broken. I could of had it fixed that day up there as I had enough with me to sort them. But ha ho.

That;s good to read, :i-m_so_happy: shame their emission kit was busted.

Rear reflector angle.  assuming tester mentioned these as they are on a downward facing angle & would be better on a vertical plane like a 90/110's are ?

Heater output.   just wondering what the heater output has to do with a IVA test ?

Notchy steering.  column joints stiff maybe

Fuel cap tether. maybe a length of brass chain fitted to the inside of filler neck & cap would be satisfactory

As western says that's pretty much the fixes.

Heater is a little stiff so lube and check sealing. It's the demist capabilities they are interested in.

I suspect stiff it's ordered two new but will lube to check.

Fuel cap is two screws, two crimps and a length of cable.

Vin plate had additional info. It must have: manufacturer (Not model as mine does), vin number (mine has chassis number as well but shouldn't). Then it can have axle weights and gross weight but doesn't need to have these.

Rear reflectors a levellng block to make them vertical is in the works.

  8. Back home now......well it didn't fail but it didn't pass either. Having been moved from Southampton to Gillingham due to equipment failure. One of the first things he said was our emissions tester isn't working so I won't be able to complete the test. However he was a nice guy and liked the ibex. Brake test was a worrie for both him and I but scraped through. Speedo check was interesting 70mph on the Speedo was 57mph on the rollers he thought it was a fail but when double checked again a scrape through. There were several other concerns but after check the manual they were fine. End result was I need to go back to do the emissions but if I have a look at:

    Rear reflector angle.

    Heater output.

    Notchy steering.

    Fuel cap tether.

Vin plate needs slightly different info on it.

Then it will pass ;). So all in all a good day a few things to sort then back up to finish off. At least this way I don't get stung for a re-test. His parting comment was "it was a pleasure to do your test. Nice truck."

    I can live with that.

  9. 200tdi 90 rear prop is near enough the same length as a 200tdi front prop. The difference being the rear is in phase the front is out of phase. It sounds to me like you have been supplied a rear prop by mistake. If so I would set it as a front should be and try it if your problems go away great if not more investigations are needed.
