I'm not sure of the differences but you could just fit a complete disco axle. You need to check the hockey stick widths as there are two widths but both will fit your chassis. The calipers were different on early disco/rangie but defender will fit. The steering arms are different but again either a straight swap or swap the drop arm on the steering box.

Probably not but only from a financial point of view. I build on such a shoe string that the nearly £600 it costs is crippling. Especially when it takes 3 months in which time it's been insured and mot'ed but I can't use it. This whole build has cost me in the region of £15000 which sounds a lot until you realise I've not reconditioned anything and bought as much second hand as possible. If I was to build it with a proper budget it would be nearer to £30000. So building to pass the test is not a problem you just need to read the book before you start and during.
Besides my next projects are likely to be an Aussie style caravan built on a commercial trailer chassis and a mini Jem which will be a restoration.

I have to admit I was still tense all the way home. I think I only believed it once I was home.

M1 basic. So the car test as opposed to commercial which is the harder of the two but is cheaper on toll bridges and congestion charges (until they ban diesels).

Well long day again as even though the test wasn't till 12.30 we left at 7 to avoid the worst of the rush hour. Got called in ready for the emissions test at this point we told him there is no way it will get to running temperature sat at tick over. So he was persuaded to drive it round to check the steering and other bits. This led to the reversing light flickering TSD did point this out last time but I forgot. Then after working out it wasn't a petrol and what setting to put the machine on the test was complete. Followed by the comment if you go over there and fix the reversing light.
So 5 mins later I had an IVA pass sheet in my hand.
loaded up and now home. Just some paperwork to complete then the wait for a registration number.

My old KM1s finally died! They had been on at least 3 cars then
Yeah woke up one morning to find one flat. It had a split in the side wall so changed the lot. Don't worry though I sold them to someone who was going to us them off road with tubes.

I have BFG mt on all of ours. 45's km2's are 6 years old and the sidewalls are starting to look tired. They have covered around 60k whilst on two different trucks and are about half worn. The 110 had km1's that came off landroversforever's 90. Now it has km2's. The ibex has km1's but that's not on the road yet. BFG km1 and km2 are great off road I'd say the best non simex type. On road the km2's are quieter but both perform well for mud tyres.

On both my tomcat and now the ibex I've used discovery headlight washer pump and jets. Now that's a lot of water on your screen.

Pretty much all exhaust td and on are the same shape excluding the down pipe for the 110. There is some differences to the tail pipe and mounts. I have a v8 system on our 200tdi converted 110.
90s on the other hand varies considerably. We have a td system on our 90. The 200tdi system is hideous and I wouldn't use it on a 90.
Our 90 has the middle box deleted sounds good without being stupid loud. Straight through is to loud for regular use unless your deaf and you don't like your neighbours.

If the thread is in the block you will need to strip the ladder frame off to helicoil it. You need to drill it oversize, tap it and then fit the helicoil none of which will go up an 8mm bolt hole. If the thread is in the ladder you either need to take the sump off or the bodge would be to do it through the sump then use a washer over the now oversize hole in the sump.

Thats where faceache etc will come in as many will get the notification through them then go find it.

That would go through IVA with no problem. Design/crumple zones are not considered provided the exterior projections meet the regs and the structure/seat belt mounts are up to the job.

A camper version might be more viable as the only market I can see for it at present is tree surgeon. But I do quite like it styling aside.

Only a few days left to get your bookings in see you there.

I've got until the weekend after next (before the 2nd) to get this sorted but it needs to be known good as I hadn't noticed a problem with this one yet he picked it up. Worst case I'll swap it with the one on the 110.
Mike
-
Yeah I've only just changed the one on the 110 from 3 to 4 bolt. So I have a spare 3 bolt but not a 4 bolt. TSD has said I can borrow the one off 2bex if need be but I will look for one on the basis that this one may not be long for this world if I refit it after the IVA.

To be honest I was hoping for the best but fearing the worst. As usual the only bit I don't have a spare for is the steering box.

The white gunk is aluminium corrosion it's where it's sat with water with little or no antifreeze in it. It should just wash out but you will see some pitting left afterwards. It shouldn't be a problem unless it's got really bad pitting.
Mike
-
Well it's not the pump so I guess I'll be swapping the box out.

Ed, He's a land rover man....That ain't going to work.
It's difficult to tell with the engine off as everything is heavier and slower.
Mike

More of a pulsing and it's only returning from full right hand lock quickly. To be honest at first I couldn't find any thing wrong so didn't know what he picked up.
Mike

Not bushes or mechanical part of the steering (haven't ruled out damper yet but was new 2 years ago). I can make it judder while jacked up it's only on right hand lock. Fluid was filled two years ago (hasn't been driven yet really) and system is as it should be.
Mike

That was next but ran out of day light last night.

The IVA man picked up an issue with the steering on the ibex. No problem I thinks that will be a seized uj easy fix.... fast forward a couple of weeks new uj's are here must do that. Well it wasn't the uj's so here's what's happening whined on full right hand lock then turn it back towards centre quite quickly and you get a judder. It doesn't happen if you go from lock to lock normally nor on left hand lock. I've let the drag link go doesn't seem to be in the axle so that leaves the box, pump or damper(which is new but has been sat a while). Anyone else have this problem? If so what was it I'm thinking I need to change steering box.

Thanks all for the kind comments (though you haven't seen it in the flesh yet
). It's definitely been a long journey but I do plan to keep it forever so worth it.
