  1. To elaborate a little more tomorrow will be the first legal drive (to work). The registration number turned up the Fay before I went to Yorkshire for two weeks with the caravan. I was hoping to take the ibex but towing a caravan to Yorkshire as a first drive is probably not the greatest idea. So now you will all understand why I could order plates online and not run to the motor factors so I could drive it. The plates were sat on the mat when I got home today along with the v5. Yes I did go and fit them before I'd finished unpacking 45. Oh and to add insult to injury something came adrift in the 110's bell housing three days before we left so I had to quickly swap the tow hitch on to 45 and fit the second trailer socket to power the caravan. Guess what I'll be doing later this week.

  2. There are several captive nut plates in land rovers. rear hinges, striker plates etc. The other option is one bit of 6mm+ plate with a hole drilled and tapped then. A second plate then sealed and fixed over the hole. You can then either Rivet, bolt, screw or glue the whole thing in place.

  3. Rivet a flat plate on the inside with blind tapped holes in it don't forget some sealer. Then all you would have on the outside is some holes which you could leave open or put some short mushroom heads in. This would allow you the bolt your brackets back on whenever you want.

  4. Sounds normal to me I also tow heavy loads with an older vehicle. My gearbox does get quite hot. The engine fan is electric and manually switched if I don't keep an eye on it it will creep past 3/4 on the temp gauge but flick the fan on and it starts coming down.

  5. I've had several dumb questions but no still waiting. It would appear even though you have to give both a phone number and email they can only contact you via post which takes a week each time. I've even replied to their question via email and they still posted the second set of questions. I may well complain about the whole process once I get my registration as it's a mess from start to finish.
