  1. I've topped up fluids this morning only to find a leaking hub seal. Guess what I'm doing tonight then. Collect the club trailer tomorrow and load camping gear, off Friday morning. Mike
  2. I believe so, as far as in aware they're non transferable. Although I have heard if you build using new parts and get a new plate then you can. Mike
  3. Mine took over a month in the end. They sent a letter after 3 weeks saying they wanted more info to give it an age related plate. The irony is I deliberately build it from two donors because I didn't want an age related plate, needless to say I wrote back saying just give me a Q that's what I want anyway. It arrived a week later. Mike
  4. Congratulations that's both the Mike browns married off now. Mike
  5. Don't think so but that's a good call it's near the NEC, dad went said it's good. Mike
  6. It does look like it. Easy fix providing it isn't stuck (I suspect it isn't), remove pipes, undo clamp nut, a little twist side to side and it should lift out. Retrieve the copper washer and replace it, reassemble. Torque it up and check for leaks when running. You may need to tighten a little more or loosen and re tighten to get it to seal. Mike
  7. I ordered a job lot of various size zinc plated 8.8 bolts, nuts and washers from a fastening supplier on eBay. Then bought specials or sizes not covered individually. Mike
  8. According to Google nylon is a type of polyamide. Though it states nylon has better chemical resistance than other polyamides. Mike
  9. Bit more done today. I stripped the perspex out of the hatch. Cleaned all the sealant off, masked it up and applied new sealant to the frame. I pushed the perspex into the new sealant till it squeezed up around the sides then flattened the excess and removed the tape. I'll clean off the squeeze out on the inside and refit the spring stay later. Also got the front marker lights fitted. Two up top on the front and one on each wheel arch, I've towed enough in the dark to know it's really helpful if you know where the wheel arches are. Mike
  10. https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/British-F4-Championship Includes GT endurance race from what I can see. Mike
  11. It's just nylon fuel pipe, buy a roll of the correct size gently warm the ends and push the old fitting into the new pipe. Do not use a flame, but a heat gun works well (a hair dryer might be warm enough). Same for fixed bends warm hold in place allow to cool just take care not to collapse it. Best to have a couple of practice runs. Finally chuck them in a bucket pressurise check for bubbles you only need a few psi. Mike
  12. To this. Another one This one we built from scratch. I also did a load of work on Windsor belle when she was converted back to steam. Plus numerous classic yachts including Cambria and velsheda. Mike
  13. Err I probably should sort some leaking hub seals and check fluids. Mike
  14. The irony is I rarely do fibreglass at work anymore as we restore classic wooden powerboats. At home on the other hand....... Mike
  15. From memory yes as the longer one needs to clear the exhaust. Mike
  16. All you need is a reg and chassis number to request a log book. Yes they write a letter to the current/previous owner but that doesn't always get acted on. Mike
  17. @ThreePointFive as fridge says you more than welcome to jump in with me. I'm driving up from Southampton on Friday morning and camping at the show caves if that helps. Mike
  18. I had a series of cambelts go on one of mine, turned out to be a worn crank pulley letting muddy water into the timing chest. Mike
  19. I've hopefully fixed the leak behind the aluminium frame. The hatch I'll do later. Tonight I got a coat of paint on the roof and a second coat all round. The only downside is someone walking past asked if I was building a burger van. Mike
  20. The bad news is they're boat shoes not slippers. But I have on occasion done stuff in slippers. Mike
  21. That just might be ferry prohibitive, but it would be fun to watch. "Yes sir you want to book a what????? On the Calais to Dover ferry crossing." Mike
  22. I'll be there marshaling and towing the club trailer. I'll be on my own this year so there's a copilot seat if anyone is that bored. Mike
  23. Today's plan was to get a coat on the roof and a second coat on the sides. However that went out the window, I woke to the pitter patter of rain. It's stopped now but due again later so I won't risk it. The good/bad news about the rain is it's shown up two leaks first is the perspex to frame joint on one of the hatches (they were second hand and it's an easy fix). The second is slightly more involved as it's getting in through the joint between the original aluminium roller door frame and the box roof. All I can do with it is rake it out and re-seal, but I'll need to let it dry out first. All of this means I've got an excuse the put a couple of dabs of filler in before the second coat. Mike
