  1. Hmm, don't think so. After the engine has died there is enough fuel pressure in the injector rail to hit you in the eyes when you press the valve on the test connection
  2. Yes but its been running for two years & I haven't changed the wiring so it can't be that. 12v to ecu is constant any way.
  3. Scratching my head here chaps. As above my 4.6 is starting but cuts out after a second or so, it doesn't cough & splutter it just dies as though you've turned the ignition off. When you turn the ignition on you here the fuel pump hum for a second or so & the PWM valve click under the bonnet. Engine starts & I have a constant 12v supply to the EDIS module & to the ECU (these are constant & aren't dropping off) Fuel pump keeps running until a second or two after the engine dies. TPS has been calibrated, engine is showing RPM, air temperature & coolant temperature. Any ideas?
  4. I live down a very steep unmade track & in winter it can freeze along it's length. A couple of my neighbours have Rav4's, Freelanders etc & struggle to get out, the cottage at the bottom is owned by a retired lady that drives a Fiesta, never seen her not get out yet Tyre choice can help compensate for bad driving but isn't a substitute for good driving! Bloody funny seeing an elderly lady in a Fiesta passing a 4x4 though
  5. Tonight I have mostly been... Fitting a new bonnet opening kit I stumbled across on www.xcess4x4.com If you have a Defender you will know how carp the standard bonnet prop is, if you need to work under the bonnet when it's windy it's bloody lethal. This kit does away with that & replaces it with two gas rams & comes with all the brackets etc to make it work I am not connected with this in any way, just thought I'd post about a superb bit of kit. I can post a couple of pictures if anyone is interested. Mick.

  7. Can't comment on the TF units as I haven't used them. No complaints about the OME shocks when used in conjunction with Gwyn's kit, superb.

  9. Thanks chaps. I've been out shooting today so haven't had chance to check anything further, will have a look in the morning. Strange thing is it isn't a new instalation, it's been running for 2 years. Maybe not a MS issue.
  10. Hi all, Need help with a new problem please. Last night my 4.6 was running fine but now it isn't When I crank the engine it starts as normal (& sounds normal) but it cuts out within a couple of seconds. As soon as the engine has cut out I can hear the two relays click & the fuel pump prime. Does this mean the ECU is loosing power or would it do that in the event of a stall any way? In the few seconds that the engine is running it doesn't respond to the throttle, RPM is showing, as is manifold & coolant temperature. Any ideas?

  13. Evening. Can anyone recommend a quality timing strobe please? The plastic Gunson one I have is great as long as you have either three hands or an elastic band to wrap around the pickup shoe I don't need trick bits, just something that bloody works.

  15. Anyone know if (assuming you change all 8) you can use the green Thor injectors in a GEMS engine with MS? The green ones are physically smaller but the fuel rail & engine side O-rings look to be the same. No you can't. Stupid boy.
  16. Cheers for that Escape, I'll double check tonight but I probably just read the meter incorrectly. Whilst we are on the subject of injectors does anyone know the correct torque setting for the injector clamp bolt? I don't have a workshop manual for the 4.6. Ta, Mick.
  17. Anyone used the ceramic tape that you wrap around your exhaust manifolds that supposedly reduces the temperature in your engine bay? If so is it any good? Does it stay where you put it or is it a temporary fix? Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section, mods please feel free to move if necessary.

  20. You have a reasonable Mig set then. Do it a favour & switch to using shielding gas.
  21. Hi Phil, Long time indeed! No.1 injector is open circuit whilst the rest measure around 160 ohms so an electrical issue rather than a spray pattern thingumy. Cheers, Mick.
  22. Hmm, Do the carb V8's have the tune resistor? My old RRC bob tail had exactly these symptoms but that was an EFI.
