  1. Hi, got some more info tonight. Maybe this will help with the diagnosis? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Paul Tried my brakes again today - very strange...... Most of the time braking from 40 mph or less in 3rd or 4th gear they were fine. A few times though braking in 5th gear or from a higher speed I got the severe judder through the steering wheel. I wonder maybe if a front disc is warped, one side front calliper or pistons are sticking, or there is a bush gone in the steering or front suspension? Springs are good all round, shockers are new gas Monroe's, steering linkages have been checked and have no play and tyres are inflated correctly. Weird. However since braking is okay most of the time I don't think its panic time!
  2. Hi guys, A colleague of mine in Transylvania has reported the following:- Did a day trip yesterday and found severe brake judder on my LR - bit worried about this as I had rear brake callipers (it has discs all round) replaced in UK - I have a feeling there's a problem with the front brakes and all the work is being done by the back ones..... Any ideas as he is a bit stuck.... please pardon the pun. Cheers, Paul
  3. Hi, Does anyone know the part number for Defender Door card studs/clips? I have had a look on e-bay but can't find them anywhere. I am just hoping this is not a main dealer item only. I had to change near side door handle as broken. When I took the door card off I think all but one clip snapped! Cheers, Paul.
  4. Thanks for this info Dixe. I am always looking for good suppliers of LR parts in Germany but to date have not found one. Have you ever visited their site? I note they are based near Frankfurt. Cheers, Paul
  5. Thanks for that. So far all my efforts have been to save the bolts but it probably will come to that. I have used reverse screws after drilling out the centre of the bolt before, but never on anything quite so big. I was even thinking of buying the mother of all screwdrivers to get a better purchase and grip. Cheers, Paul.
  6. Point taken, Rejo is coming on Saturday with his welding kit so the pressures on. I took the snorkel off, door card off and wiring disconnected from door. Then it came to removing the door. I managed to eventually remove the two top hinge bolts but the lower two I just couldn't budge. Lots of WD40 and even resorted to impact driver but the b*****ds just refused to move. Any tricks of the trade to sort them out would be appreciated? Then its the wings turn. Cheers, Paul.
  7. Just seems like a hell of a lot of work for a small hole. It's not structural right? I have had a good poke around below the wing and behind dash and seems ok. So why is it so important to cut right back? Cheers, Paul
  8. OK what is the verdict? Weld a patch or dig deeper?
  9. Thanks Streaky, that is really useful and your contact sounds great. I will keep in touch with you regarding progress. If I get this off the ground maybe we can meet up over there in October? Cheers, Paul
  10. Thanks Glen, very comprehensive reply, appreciated. As I said the trip is not definite yet but I have been considering India. Hopefully the fact that I want to see this country only should simplify things as not crossing international borders. Do you think it would be an issue between states or regions? Regards, Paul.
  11. Thanks Mike, that will be useful
  12. Rejo, You are co-driver for the India trip, didn't I tell you?
  13. Thanks Dan, Looks like an interesting site, just registered with them too. I do like the idea of a container though. Seems a bit more secure.
  14. Thanks Mike for the contact details. The £800 quoted is for a 20 ft container. they said I can also pack it with other stuff too. I haven't got as far as all risks insurance. What sort of price is that? Cheers, Paul
  15. Thanks Mike that is really helpful. The trip I am planning is not definite yet. I am just costing it up. The subject of an ATA came up as the shipping company require it before booking can take place. Always fancied a trip to India. The price varies a lot. Most shipping companies want about £1500 one way, although I have found a company that charges £800 one way from Felixstowe. Cheers, Paul.
  16. Hit the wall fridge! Tried three freebi progs and none do the job. Do you think it needs to look like a button? In your opinion do you think they will look ok if they remain as a flat image linked to the relevant page? Cheers, Paul.
  17. Well if it does Fridge i can't find the facility. I will have a go with your link. Paul
  18. Thanks Fridge, I will give it a go now. I have Dreamweaver, but I couldn't find a facility for buttonising. I will have another look. Cheers, Paul
  19. My effort Existing button for comparison Hi, Can anyone help? A friend has been helping me with graphics for my site. However, he can't always manage to get them to me as quickly as required. So I have been playing around with buttons on my homepage to see if I can get my effort to match. I have got as far as managing to insert an image with green box for text. How do I get it to look like a button like my other ones? I gradually want to change all the buttons to make them more relevant to the site. For this purpose what is the best format ie gif, png or jpeg Cheers, Paul
  20. Hi, When shipping your LR outside of Europe for a trip has anyone bought a ATA carnet before, and if so how much did it cost you? Cheers, Paul.
  21. Thanks Walfy, I think the door will have to come off though as rust close to hinge.
  22. Still not done! Have been putting the job off by reassuring myself that it is not that bad, just a few bubbles under the paint. Rejo took the bull by the horns requesting a screwdriver and a hammer and the put it straight through the bulkhead 2mm above the wing. So yes the wing has got to come off.
