  1. yeh, youll most likely be laughing at me going onto myside dave see you at rd4 finally back in my own car !
  2. i knew you wouldnt resist strapping a winch to the front of that quad !
  3. its either that or someone did a very good job of making a series into a very good factory finish td5 90 as everything under the bonnet is where it should be
  4. im going to try and get down for the sunday event, but it does depend on what naffs up when i take the car out for a run on the saturday. so fingers crossed its ok and ill see you on sunday with fresh paintwork to kill !
  5. yes but you could soon gear it to the correct speed by choosing the sprocket sizes for the drive chain to the pump
  6. im sure it would load up the timing chain like buggery. the chain is wide, but not that big. the blacking plug is directly in line with the cam sprocket, but you would need to fab some kind of drive and bearing boss to fit back into its place.
  7. forgot that people still have front mounted rads ! mines in the back and the engine has been moved aswel so i have pleanty of room
  8. i dont know of any out there yet as ive been looking abit. it wouldnt be hard to fab up a direct drive from the crank to the pump. i dont think i'd have enough room to fit a mini propshaft to link them up, so i'd go down the cush drive route which is nice and compact. if you were going to use the vacant a/c slot and use a chain drive you would need to fit an idler pully somewhere as the chain would be a long bugger.
  9. i altered my mounts when i fitted a td5 i just sprayed the welded area with cold galv spray obviously you cant sort out the inside of the chassis but hey ho
  10. must be the only straight bit on that car then !
  11. matt, i will be co-driving for saley this weekend dan
  12. check the top and bottom ball joints then if its a disco two also as mentioned rear trailing arm to chassis bush's make sure that you check the bolt holes on the axle and chassis to the panhard rod for elongation as thats something that i have come accross a few times dan
  13. no dan, im pretty sure you jumped out onto the tree.
  14. did anyone get a vid of you going airborn and hitting that tree as you landed on the s/s dan ? because f.me that was funny !
  15. i was with barry gee in the tomcat
  16. fantastic day, im completely shattered now ! i could barely stand up all day it was a nightmare, i even ended up scaling the rock face on section 4 just to get a good tree to winch off. shame play was ended 3 hours early for us or else we could of racked up a few more points. well done neil and the team for setting up yet another brilliant day. thanks to bob for the land also. dan
  17. strange i thought all td5's had them fitted . have you removed it ? as ive worked on a 55plate defender and that still had the cooler
  18. im looking at making the cooling system simple, so wanted to know if it really is that critical to have the fuel cooler. i know what its fitted for, but does it really matter to a comp motor that isnt getting blasted around and that will never see tarmac dan
  19. yep its expensive, give nathan, tomcat404 a pm, he had rooks of cable he was selling off, he probs still has some left
  20. i run 70mm main power leads and earths upto the albrites then 50mm from the albrite to motor my albrites are fixed to the ends of the motors id be happy to say 10.5-11v is normal voltage under load i seem to remember mine hovering around that back when i used to run 12v, however i now run 24v through 12
  21. what you done now its auto jon, a lt box isnt exactly a good idea with a v8 is it. i snapped mainshafts with a 200tdi dan
  22. im sorry but it isnt the alt charge wires, i ran a std 55amp alt on my tdi powering twin optimas that supplied power to twin 8274's with no hassle mrht can back me on that. get that earth direct back to the batterys and im sure it will cure it ive got twin gp winches front and rear, and i forgot to refit the earth lead to the front winch on the last outing, which lead to it not being able to bugger all until i refitted it however the back worked fine i remember years ago u kept getting hassle with my rear huskey with, that also turned out to be poor earth's. the chassis just aint good enough really as you have got 4 points of contact before it hits the battery rather than two good points when going direct
  23. p*** off it wasnt my fault last weekend.. was it ? come on, it was kin funny to watch
