  1. My 2001 P38's Speedo has stopped working and the rev counter has become intermittent. The central locking locks fine but the unlocking is intermittent. The faults occured after the positive on my radio popped out and grounded. After replacing the fuse these fault remain so would appreciate some guidance. I have asked on the RR forum but no results so I thought I would throw it out to the wide audience
  2. I am assuming a TD5. Is there any black smoke?
  3. The trailer is 17ft long and 7ft wide. I have a front white marker and three amber side markers. This is a rubber arm that extends out the side with red at the back and white at the front.
  4. I am just finishing rewiring my transporter trailer with LED lights. The trailer originally had red outrigger lights on a flexible rubber stalk above the main lights. Is this a legal requirement? The trailer is an IFOR CT 177.
  5. If you look at the way the Cobra is printed there are only certain elements that are printed with components bolted traditionally. I think the basic shell of a building could be printed but doors electrics plumbing and finishes would still need to be done manually.
  6. There is talk of using them to create buildings. That is a scary thought and as an Architect I have been trying to work out how it could be done. With the advances in technology and the ability to print plastic, metal and even chocolate more and more is going to be printed. I am looking forward to my metal printer just as well I am divorcing
  7. I have had it since January. The prices have really dropped and for what they are they are superb. Have spent a fortune on filament and as soon as I go it my kids started selling things at school. Now only restricted by my imagination although I was really taken aback by how much development the phone holder for the P38 took to get right. I broke about three in use because of the design as too close to my leg when driving. Also had to work out how to fix it to the dash and how to wire it and conceal the wiring as much as possible. All great fun though.
  8. Combined with 30 years using Autocad in 3D and there is a very powerful combination and great fun. Here is more of my Disco with the power hub replacing the carp cup holder that broke.
  9. Been playing for a while with a 3D printer and have printed this quite a few times refining the model and trying it out. Basically made a phone holder for my P38 which sits snugly besides the radio. I have even provided a hidden power supply. Now I am going to produce one for the Discovery. I am working on a few other projects too and am looking for ideas to try.
  10. I have towed a car loaded the wrong way on a trailer because it was the only way to load it at the point of pick up and only a short distance to travel. It was a nightmare even for a short distance. Have my own Ifor transporter for Land Rovers and tows very well. If the balance is a concern take two or three 5 gallon drums with you and fill them with water. Whilst increasing the load it will provide the possibility of countering the load distribution as required. Make sure they are strapped down though.
  11. I had something similar when working under a Range Rover. A fragment of the exhaust dropped into my eye and embedded in the eyeball. Horrible to say the least getting it out.
  12. Thanks for the insight on China however two of the partners in the new venture are Chinese one is based here the other in China so much of what we do will be sourced by a Chinese national working in China. It is important to him that the quality is there also.
  13. Yes but I shorted out the radio by mistake because the connector became dislodged and touched earth.
  14. Car is 2001. The fuse was replaced and has now cleared that fault. The only thing not working now is the message centre not giving the MPG, trip, miles to refuel etc and the rev and speedo.
  15. Have some issues with the electrics on the P38 The message centre tells me that fuse 17 is blown but there is no evidence of it. The speedo and rev counter no longer operate either. Any ideas or is this a case of Auto Electrician?
  16. On the contrary it is very important to know the down side of any venture. At the moment there is a lot of talk about profit and nothing about the risk. Business is the offset of one against the other.
  17. I have sold a lot of Range Rover stuff after breaking the cars but more as a hobby than anything else. The important thing for me has always been to be as helpful as possible besides the cars are a hobby and while I can keep them on the road more economically they are basically the de stressor in my life.
  18. Our source lives over there is a native and was educated in Edinburgh. The idea was to start with one product type and build up from there. LED lights and bulbs are a favourite at the moment.
  19. Thanks guys Some very interesting points. We have someone located within the city we would be importing from who will be checking quality. One of the factories we visited while over there was already supplying to major UK companied and we saw their production lines and they looked good. Had already thought about the issue of safety and would definitely avoid products like tyres where there are rigorous safety issues. Like the idea of body panels that could be a good one to explore. I would not have any problem replacing sub standard parts I think a reputation is built not only on the quality of what you sell but also the way issues are dealt with should they arise.
  20. I have been given the opportunity to venture into a new line of business and would appreciate some valuable input. In November I was on a business trip in China and have made some excellent contacts for importing both bespoke and manufactured goods. We have all seen products on Ebay from China and some of it is dubious and some of it is quite good. What products would you consider buying from a UK supplier importing from China and what would you definitely avoid? I only am going to import decent quality stuff and have someone over there who has the ability to check the manufacturing plant for us. I am very familiar with Land Rover parts and have been playing with them for some time but interested in your ideas. We were discussing things like LED lights and bulbs and wheels and tyres just to give the heads up.
  21. They did some hideous things to the poor classic!!
  22. Pete Thanks I have tried a multi meter at the bulb but get no reading. Have not tried the feed at the BECM will try that.
  23. On 2001 Vogue I have an issue with the off side tail light. It is not working and the message centre says it is the bulb. When I change the build there is no change. I have just looked at the wiring on another 2000 model and the green with purple trace goes straight to the BECM. Do not appear to be getting a feed so would appreciate some help and ideas.
