  1. Not only do I have one.............It now works properly just need to fix everything else for the MOT.
  2. Maverik Thanks for that took less than an hour to fix once I got round to it. Do you have any idea how long before it needs done again?
  3. I had a similar failure on the outside lane of the M6 passing under the M56. Because I was traveling at speed my prop took out the side of the gearbox and the floor of the car so you were very lucky. I have several front props if you need one.
  4. Michael There is a valve just down from the master cylinder that operates the flow if there is a failure check that that is clean and working properly.
  5. Wither that or buy a receiver winch mount and a receiver outlet and bolt that to the Dixon Bates mount. I opted to put receiver hitches front and back with Anderson connectors. Only need one winch which I store in the boot where it is nice and dry.
  6. I took legal advice recently about a contract I had with a business. The client was a property developer who bought from the bank a development that I had started with another developer who then went bust. My new contract was to undertake certain task and was signed in November 2010. The new developer has taken nearly 5 years to build 20 houses and as a result needed some of the paperwork renewed. I undertook that work and then gave him a bill which he is refusing to pay because the contract stated that this was included. The contract was very basic and no times were stated in the contract however the solicitor that my governing body provided stated that whilst there is no time stated within the contract it is implied that the work would be completed within a reasonable timescale. His view was because of the developers direct failure to complete the work within the reasonable timescale he directly cause more work for me and as such I was liable for payment.
  7. Agree completely A consensus of opinion is not proper legal advice. If Les seeks legal advice and it turns out to be wrong at least he is able to claim on the solicitors insurance.
  8. Maybe in France but no in the UK so a UK trailer being towed by a UK vehicle regardless of weight can be towed legally in every member state.
  9. Certainly if the vehicle and trailer are legal in the State of origin regardless of Spanish Law UK rules apply. It would be impossible for all vehicles to comply specifically with the idiosyncrasies of each member state on the off chance that vehicles would travel to every state. Add a trailer and that makes it doubly impossible.
  10. So basically I scrapped a good starter motor because it needed a £10 repair?
  11. For a long time I have occasionally needed to crawl under me Disco TD5 to push in the cable to the solenoid to get the car to start. This would happen maybe once a month or once every 6 weeks. Now the car will not start because of this has anyone had the same problem if so how did you fix it? My initial thought was the connector on the cable was dodgy now I am not sure.
  12. I used a crimping tool first and was done by a very good friend of my who is an Electrical Engineer and always but the best of kit. The crimped connectors did not work which is why we went down the solder route. Since I took that decision there has never been a problem whereas before I kept having to redo the crimps regularly.
  13. Phil I have never looked at any specific brand but the corroded Anderson connector threat relates to a soldered connection for my Disco. My solder was bought from Maplins and was the cheapest they had. I heated the connector up with a blow torch and fed the solder in until the pot was full and then just stuck the cable in until it cooled. Use mole grips while hot. Have used the same stuff multiple times on all battery connectors and Anderson connectors and have never failed even when a brain dead friend tried to jump start my cars by connecting the live to the negative, and vise versa, on the dead car. The cables got very hot as he stood looking at it saying he couldn't disconnect because they were too hot. I was very angry to say the least. Those jump cables have never worked since because the cable ends had failed at the solder joint but the solder was still very much in tact as it was the cable that failed. These were 800amp cables.
  14. The rules covering the trailer construction are the UK rules so if it is legal on the roads here it is legal to use all over Europe. I remember some years back discussions about some or the big German caravans and how it was legal for the Germans to come over with ridiculous tow vehicles and use them here but it was very difficult for us to to the same caravan with even a 4x4.
  15. Thanks. The corners of the gates are plastic printed hexagon sections into which a 15mm angle is inserted and then the wire mesh welded into the angle. The frame is a steel box section which again is jointed with printed plastic joints. It seems robust at the moment but will be interested to see how it holds up with the two dogs especially as they are being very aggressive with one another the one on the right is two and trying to usurp the one on the left who is nine so a testosterone battle going on. The reason I divided the boot on both the Disco and the Range Rover. The advantage of the plastic was it all went together very cleanly without much in the was of a jig. So far there is no rattle so it is working very well. Jeff mine first.
  16. Made me think and when I get a chance I will add an relay. Would 100amps do it?
  17. So why has the front one not gone the same way?
  18. Yes Constant live negative un-affected
  19. Was under the car this morning sorting various bits and bobs and one of the things I wanted to sort was the rear Anderson connector on my Disco. When I looked at the connection the positive connector was gummed up and half of it eaten away. It has been in place for 2 years but rarely used. What caused it? Water? I had siliconed the rear to keep moisture out and it always had a cap to cover it.
  20. After 6 month of playing I have finally complete the cage for my Discovery. Both the dogs and myself are really please. All the joints were made with custom printed plastic jointer which I drew and printed myself. It works really well and once I create a couple of doors for the lower storage I will be able to leave the dogs with the rear door open in summer.
  21. I would agree to a point but 5 years that would be taking the pass.
  22. What is the likely storage cost? Say £10 per week and that is on the light side so £520 per year over 5 years £2600. If it has been sitting for 5 years unused then it is unlikely to fetch more than £1000.00. As said above stick it on Ebay even starting at £1 with a reserve at £2600.00. If it doesn't meet the reserve then it is yours in my book.
  23. There is a website call Just Ask for a small fee you get legal advice which I have always found unesfl......You are entitled to charge storage so I would expect that after 5 years you now own the vehicle.
  24. I had the lack of power and black smoke too turned out to be a pipe to the turbo letting in too much air. Cured for very little money I think I would look to that first.
  25. Can confirm that the Radio is working and the fuse was correctly rated. I cannot fathom why the Rev and the remote should be intermittent.
