  1. When I had a recovery business and before all the recent laws I was able to obtain from the Police details of the vehicle owners of Stolen Vehciles we recovered fro the Local Authorities. I held one insurer to ransom and got paid fairly quickly because they at that stage owned the vehicle. Insurance companies, as far as I am aware, do not own the vehicle until an agreement is reached for them to settle.
  2. Turned out to be the hight tilt mechanism had broken a mount. Quick weld and everything now fine. Yes a very funny situation
  3. The drivers seat on my Discovery has today developed a rocking motion. The seat is Electric adjustment and seems only the base that is rocking. The lower frame is fine and solid. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? The electric switch has not worked for three years so it is not the ajustment. Photos of the underside of an electric seat would be useful.
  4. I disagree.....I never owned a Mini but my brother had a 1275 GT which was awsome. Power to weight ratio was brilliant and scooted round corners brilliantly........Made me want one but it never happened.
  5. Paul I was playing nice just not seeing the words properly
  6. I would agree with this there is something about a V8 petrol engine that I adore. Having said that a friend of mine has a TDV8 and that seems to be a very nice vehicle. Still I am hankering after a 4.4 V8 myself.
  7. Is the power loss all the time or just occasionally? Does it produce Black smoke? I had this on my Disco 2 and it turned out to be a cracked pipe to the turbo I think.

  9. Petrol or Diesel? 2.5, 4.0 or 4.6? Auto or Manual?
  10. David possibly however I have always fiddled around trying it for a bot then going back to it and eventually getting it to work. The best method I found was shorting the two battery cables (without the battery connected) for 30 seconds or so. That tends to wipe out all error messages.
  11. No the keycode input makes the keycode lockout message disappear that is the purpose of the message and the keycode input.
  12. When I was about 8 years old I remember saying that when I grew up I wanted 2 dogs, two boys and two Range Rovers. That was 1970 just just after the launch. As I child my favourite toy cars were the Range Rovers. When I was old enough to drive I had many cars however I always hankered after Range Rovers and when in my early 30's I got the chance of a very old 1978 RR with a transit diesel conversion I jumped at it. It was slow noisy and the wiring burnt itself out but I loved it and replaced it with a 3.5 Carbed SE then a 3.9 EFi then a CSK (Still have) then a Freelander HSE (New) then a Freelander 2 HSE. Then my ex left and I was broke so bought my first P38 then a Disco 2 because the P38 had the dreaded electrical problems. Then I bought another P38 and then the P38 I have today. Guess what else......I have two Weimaraners and two boys 12 and 13. Why............Don't know I have a transporter trailer which is useful to take the cars to the garage when one breaks down. I am [planning getting a (Big) boat they are great for the dogs and the P38 certainly looks really cool. Am planning on getting an L322 to add to the Disco P38 and CSK....Why? because I can and there is no one to moan at me for doing so. Have flirted with the idea of buying other vehicles but for some reason I always wander back to the Land Rover models.
  13. Get the keycode input into the system should do it.
  14. Paul Take the door panel off and operate the locking mechanism from inside the door rather than using the key to input the code. Sometimes the key does not throw the locking mechanism far enough to register the key code. Failing that Dealer or nanocom
  15. Certainly did something similar and even took my sunroofs out and reseated them the result.............the sunroof still leaks and my next solution is to vinyl wrap the roof with clear vinyl so I can still see out ,
  16. The Disco does have electrical gremlins however having put in my spare battery I have not had any issues and the car had been laid up some days when I use my Range Rover which confirms to me that the battery has issues. Not yet had time to check it out hopefully get some time tomorrow.
  17. Disconnect both leads from the battery and connect them together for 30 seconds. This tends to wipe fault codes from the memory and lets you start afresh.
  18. I bought an Optima battery nearly a year ago for my Discovery. Over the last few weeks it has been loosing power overnight and now will not retain enough charge to start it between starts. I have switched to an older battery I had and have charged the optima out of the car. The battery is currently sitting after a charge at 12.3V. Is this good or bad? I thought it should be 13.5 volts it sat at. Help and advise appreciated.
  19. I knew the Autobiography was on the last of the Classics and have seen a few about, Was certain about the LSE's and uncertain about SE's. The Autobiographies could have anything at that stage of the branding if you had the money to pay for it.
  20. To refit the torque converter to the gearbox the best way I found was to have the gearbox with the bellhousing standing face up and to drop the converter down the shaft. There should be a few "jiggles" on the way down but you will know when it is seated properly.
  21. I thought EAS was standard on the LSE and an Autobiography option on the SE.
  22. Certainly Air Suspension was introduced on the Classic on the LSE model and my belief was that this was the test bed for the P38. To try and iron out the bugs for the new model launch.
  23. I have been looking in France and Spain for a 2 door classic circa 88 to 91 for a body shell for my CSK and mine is fatally rusted. There are many Classics which look reasonable and will be a lot less rusty with the steering on the wrong side. http://www.autoscout24.com http://www.leboncoin.fr/ Try these sites.
  24. So you should be very clued up then. Prey tell.
