  1. Can't marshal for this James as I am only allowed one pass a month!
  2. I would offer Sam, but I am helping Darren's winchman out (it's his 16 year old son!) as well as Marhsalling, keeping an eye on India and picking up the peices of Ian's vehicle/winch when he breaks it How about asking Charles 'The Bish' Bishop he has little on his plate at the moment apart from a few minor vehicle issues and in his time could get anything stuck anywhere, anytime and with maximum effect
  3. If I am not mistaken that 'female' is Dave's other half the charming, gorgeous and funny Beryl; also oneof the finest cooks on God's earth. Amazing that one so lovely can be the daughter of Dave's mother in law
  4. That's where so many people go wrong, a bush is not just a bush. The internals of the bush are not just a hole with a metal sleave and a bolt through it... You really should gen up on bushes me old pseudo antipodean
  5. Don't forget that Ali and Jules are somewhat biased towards Bearmach What actually happened was that SuperPro changed the design, some while back, but were stuck in a contract to supply with Bearmach so they continued to supply the old design. The deal ended this last January so Bearmach needed a new manufacturer. SuperPro carried on the development and the kit out now for RRC/Disco?Defender is soo far ahead of the old stuff as to be well ahead of the competition. Bearmachs new supplier supplies the old design but it is made to a decent standard. SuperPro have almost a million quids worth of stock in the UK - about a mile from where I am typing this; most of this is for other vehicles but they do have shed loads of stock fo LR's. Thier website has the dealers around the UK
  6. William, could have got you a P reg Discofairy 3.9auto with LPG ES spec high miles but full service history form new and nothing scrimped for £500 with MOT and Tax - in Epsom Green as well. In fact I may just buy it myself
  7. Richard, When I get back from cutting the wicket, I will half inch the wifes scales and go and weigh an X9 and an EP9 just for you, along with 100' of Dyneema
  8. I've retired - Matt is the new expert on them, having spent months re-building Darren's
  9. Chris, you, Mr Jones and young Trembath are all on the list - you are doing the SS's/Punches Charles - Les who?
  10. http://j33p.org/_club/events2.cfm?event Loads of you have been before, you know the score (wow poetry!) The BBQ is a hoot as well as a good chowdown. SS's with punches as a non competetive but hairy chested sidline to the big picture which is having fun off road. This will be the 10th event at 7S thatI have been Chief Marshal - I may get it right soon. The usual team will be there but I am shy of three marshalling crews so PM me if you are up for it Camping is most likley at Dan Yr Ogof and Tangoman will be along to act as midge decoy.
  11. Been over to see him tonight - dropped off some seed potatoes. He's got some silly stuff over there. How does a Ford/Lotus 1500 TC lump grab you and the way he has fitted an oil filter onto the Avant lump (usually filterless) is a masterpiece. Met his missus tonight - lovely lady but very ill, confined to a wheelchair. A cuddle from the youngest soon made her smile!
  12. I bow to your knowledeg mate - matey chap sadi he reckoned it was 27litres. I just know it was damn big. It's going into a 360 excavator somehow. He's got an old Matpro in there - the one with the engine behind the cab - straight six of some sort; and that tiny cab - like a WW2 fighter
  13. Hate to say this but with the new SuperPro bushes on my hockey sticks I have had to swap in shorter shocks to stop the blessed thing dislocating
  14. Can I suggest that you look under the bonnet of a 2.0litre Frontera
  15. Bloke over the way from me does a'bit ' on cars As Mr Neale was down with family today, he and I slipped away to oggle a Traction Avant that is parked up in this guys yard. Matey chap was there at the time, nice bloke, tinkering with the IL6 in his Jag. Said 'no worries' as to me and Matt having a peak at the Avant - oneof the most beautiful cars ever made. So then we spy a likkle engine in the corner of the yard. A Rolls Royce Eagle TD; 27 litres and six cylinders of perfection coupled up to an auto box. Matt is trying to work out how to fit in the 110. I happen to glance into the workshop. Envy is a strong word. Imagine the best lathes and milling machines form the 60's and 70's, Tig, Mig, Arc, Gas, real mans pillar drills, 100tonne press, overhead hoist - all covered in a gentle patina of oil and light grime... Sadly we tarried to long and the wives started yanking on the electric leashes, but I shall be back there - oh yes. Maybe I can finally start buiilding my vapour winch!
  16. What the short, bespectacled and unshaven one says (FF). Then buy a repacement pipe for the center box. To be honest the loss of both silencers is a tadge on the harsh side at full chap. When I need a replacement for the 100" I shall just buy another 110 system and get out the hacksaw - it's easier
  17. Adrian On the budget side! I have the AEU2522s CV's a 24 spline two pinion (my fuseable link!) and a set of Ashcroft shafts I bought cheap from a good friend because he upgraded to a Salisbury on the front. I always overfill the diff so it doesn't get oil starvation on slopes. Rear is a Salisbury with a set of Pete Rowe shafts on standard LR flanges (fuseable link). To be honest the front set up lasted 200K and 20 years with just a CV change and it only lunched itself under power whilst left foot braking. Diff and shafts all went for a burton. The mix of tyres and tyre sizes and the hard use it has had with me and it's previous owners proves how a standard system can last. I re-built it stronger because I needed the vehicle to be reliable. I would ring Ashcrofts and have a chat. Tell them what you want and what you need and then let them tell you the cost. It's only money.
  18. Trying to work out just how heavy a 'bike can be carried without casusing excess pressure on the air bags
  19. Not that maroon hardtop I see coming up Puriton Hill some monings
  20. So 333lbs in real money - Thanks Tony
  21. The draw bar weight is the maximum weight you can put on the towball - ie downward force type thing. Max allowable mass for towing is 3.5tonnes unless what you are carrying in the vehicle exceeds the gross train weight (wich I don't think is legally possible for a RRC). Air suspended RRC's have a higher max drawbar weight and I don't know what it is...
  22. What is the max drawbar weight of a RRC with air suspension?
  23. I wouldn't put you down as a thrasher of engines - more the other way. To blow oil out of an engine you need pressure...
  24. Sorry Les, it was the bendy bit under the nuber one piston where the bit of metal with a big hole and a little hole fits in
  25. What Dan described is a commonish fault on the 200Tdi and requires a line bore and new cam bearings - BUT it lowers the oil pressure big time as it exposes an oil way as the cam bearing moves forward. Something is forcing oil out of the engine. I would say it's a head gasket. Howevere are you losing water or are you using extra fule/not reading low on the dipstick? By the way the cam problem is the result of an un thrashed lump being thrashed....
