  1. "they" say that eBay is a Mecca for stolen parts but I would have though anyone selling on there leaves a footprint even mr bean could trace. I'd say most of them end up in containers , we're supposed to be a country in lockdown but stolen plant, cars and parts seem to travel about freely enough
  2. That's why I think spending £240 on 3 or £400 on 5 is a lot of money, if they look through the window and see a 360 degree steering lock or a pedal lock they won't even try to get in unless they're really determined.
  3. So all they really do is stop the window frame being bent , defenders are so easy to get into IMO you'd be better off spending the money on a good steering lock or a pedal box lock, a vehicle that has the hinges on the outside held on with 8 screws is never going to be very secure
  4. we've already got a car , I've never wanted a discovery I've just changed the doors for new ones which are watertight so carpet might be ok but depending on the price I like the look of the acoustic matting in this link http://www.wrightoffroad.com/products.htm
  5. They won't be thatcham tested but they are insurance approved for house use, let's face it , it only throws a bolt into the Pillar stopping the door from being opened, a 5 lever house lock is secure enough, they could take the doors off quicker than defeating that! £80 is a ripoff for a £15 lock with a thatcham sticker on it
  6. I think I'll go for this instead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monster-Gobstopper-250g-Huge-Giant-Tennis-Ball-Size-Fruit-Flavour-Gob-Stopper-/110765209856?pt=UK_Sweets_Chocolate&hash=item19ca1ef900#ht_1203wt_786 That acoustic matting looks perfect, the problem could be the website is 10 years old and still under construction Plus there aren't any prices as far as I can see but it's worth a phone call Thanks
  7. Should I go with oak or beech, I wouldn't want anything that would clash with the seats
  8. My wife hates the 90 so in order to appease her I'm looking for some carpet to make it a bit softer and quieter it down a bit What I've seen so far is either stupid expensive or looks rubbish Exmoor trim do a set that looks ok but pricey, any recommendations for something as good for 1/2 the money lol This looks ok but out of stock, I'm looking for a complete set, seat box, tunnel, floor etc https://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_2469.html
  9. £80 sounds like a lot of money for what looks like a pretty normal house door lock to me Many years ago I had a Mercedes van , I fitted similar locks bought from b & q and I have the technical skills of A 12 year old girl so before I spent £250 I'd have a look at similar products off the shelf
  10. The one I have is the previous model, night vision is ok with the lights on , the new one is meant to be better I bought it to record what happens in front of me in case of an accident Something that happened within a week of me getting it http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/watch?v=ZSp1n11DP7w
  11. Although I've only had it a month my 300tdi has 163,000 miles on it, drives fine, looks a bit oily underneath and leaves the odd black spot when parked for an hour but everything works with no clunks
  12. I use a road hawk in my van to video the numpties A16gb sd card will record about 24 hrs video, when the card is inserted into a pc it plays the video alongside a scrolling map showing speed and position captured by the on board gps £199 http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/roadhawk-dc-1-in-car-camera.html
  13. I've been looking on eBay but as you say it's like hens teeth which is why I was looking at buying it new but not at £300 , mine has carpet on it now but it's like used 70s bingo hall , looks like I might be updating it to 90s bingo hall at that price
  14. Im going to be changing the colour of my 90 so to limit the amount of interior painting I'm looking for the rear plastic trim that covers most of the painted parts in the back, round the windows and behind the seats Simmonites sell it but at over £300 which seems a lot for some plastic trims, is there anywhere cheaper What I'm looking for can be seen in the pictures on this website Thanks http://www.defendoor.co.uk/Defender-rear-speakers.php
  15. That's what it says, it's stupid bright and fits in the palm of your hand, it lights up roofs at least 100m away, I'm surprised the police helicopter isn't looking for me as I must have freaked the neighbours out
  16. Just been to Aldi and picked up a led torch for £10.99 which has blown me away Runs on 3AAA batteries and is that bright it would burn your eyes out if you looked into it Range is 120m brightness is 480-500 lumens, 3 yr warranty and water and shockproof Having changed a wheel by the light of an iPhone I'll be keeping this in the 90 They won't be in there for long once word gets out how good they are
  17. It doesn't look very secure for a prison cell http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Landrover-Defender-110-130-camper-body-/170729516085?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c045ac35#ht_500wt_922
  18. If you crashed into it there's no way you could say you didn't see it
  19. You buy some locks because you're fed up with a different key for every one, you have to take 1/2 the door apart to get at it, the screws are corroded in, they snap but it doesn't matter because you have new locks, then you find out you have 1/2 a lock , it doesn't come with the only bit you're likely to break. At least it's only 10% less secure with the doors unlocked
  20. Back on track then http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-LAND-ROVER-110-DEFENDER-200-tdi-factory-fitted-off-road-special-/290629459539?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43aadd9e53&clk_rvr_id=282696587098&afsrc=1#ht_1625wt_922
  21. I thought they'd abandoned that stupid relay thing I once broke down near Norwich in a van towing a trailer, they bought me back to Warrington on one truck which was a contractor but he came back in a straight line fron Norwich to Warrington It took 8 hours, we were on roads in Derbyshire that hadn't seen traffic since the Romans Going up steep hills at 10mph , when I asked why he said that's how the AA pay, shortest distance, sounded crazy to me as he must have used more fuel going up and down the box like he was than going 50 miles further on a less direct but faster route
  22. I think the 60k includes 30k worth of tools in the tool box As with all accessories they add little value when selling, he'd probably get more taking them off and selling them separately
  23. I don't know about replacement panels but if it's really hard to get off it could be electro- static applied paint which is very tough primer and the main reason 10 year old mondeos still look new In the 70s a 10 year old ford was a pile of dust and 4 tyres
  24. When I went to buy something from the motor factors I was told they couldn't sell me a plate for the trailer without the car documents but they could sell me a blank plate and the self adhesive letters, so I bought those and stuck them on myself
