When buying a motor you need to take your time there is someone else who always got a better deal, take your time and one will turn up.
Don't buy for the sake of buying.
Make sure its well tied up out of the way and leave it on the surface of the chassis. Cables soon rot over the years if they are left in box section filled with water.
When you wire the fan up use a temp switch to switch a relay on and off and also use a three position switch in the cab for "auto", "off" and "manual on" this should be placed close to you in the cockpit so you have plenty of control when you are off road or wading.
If you need some help with the wiring give me shout and i will draw it out for you.
Thanks for the reply and RPR would you suggest would be the simplest route to get there however as with all things female my wife is completley unreasonable and as such she is determined that we get a Defender.
So i think that i will have to pass on the stage 1 and buy another 110 CSW V8 Defender, like the one that she made me sell 2yrs ago because it was too big.
Thanks for the suggestions from everybody though.
I have had a 110 V8 CSW before but i fancy a series 3 and the stage ticks all the right boxes.
I think that a truck cab conversion will be more likely.
Has anyone done this before?
If so what parts are needed?
Thanks for the info so far guys.
I've seen a stage 1 at the right price but the 109 van back i don't like so my options are looking slim at a station wagon conversion but maybe a truck cab with no canvas is an easy option.
Has anybody done a truck cab conversion before?
Is it possible to convert a Stage 1 V8 109 Van back to a station wagon 5 door body style? or is it simply not worth it?
The mrs wants a Defender i want a series 3 we both want a V8 but we need a second row of seats for the 2 kids to get in and out of.
If it's possible to do what parts are needed and how difficult would it be.
Or what about a conversion to a truck cab? Is that any easier?
Thanks

I was told by someone that if it's not bled it damages the engine. I couldn't see how damage could occur so i thought it better to ask some experts than go around spouting false information.
Thanks for the replys so far everyone.
As i am new to the world of heavey oil fuel can some-one give me some advice?
Why do you need to bleed the air out of the fuel system if it runs out? What happens if you don't do this, will it break anything?
Thanks in advance.

The clicking i thought was the solenoid trying to engage but the battery is to flat to turn the starter motor and turn the engine.
Disconnect the starter motor and try and test run it on a bench (held in a vice or similar) to see what the problem is.
You can read the car mags and buy a diesel dump valve, a hiclone, a K&N filter, re-chip the engine and you have a 75bhp increase.
In reality you have £750 and gained 15bhp.
Thanks for the info from everybody.
Thanks for the offer Orange90 but i have managed to hire a twin axle Ifor Williams trailer for £50 for the day and a friend is going to pull it with his Land Cruiser 4.2 TD.
Hopefully it shall go well.
Thanks

I understand from previous threads that there may be a legality issue about the use of A-Frame, aside from this though would it be able to tow a 90 safely?
I have not been able to locate a trailer so this is my only option.
