  1. you could also try Powerflow and then you can choose how loud it will be.
  2. You normally use the fixing kit supplied from the manufacturer which uses the same holes in the floor. Or you can fabricate your own. If you find an old Peugeot 205 they have tipping seat bases which might help with access to the battery but they will need modding also.
  3. But if i had a less than 3yr old Merc surley i could afford it? Isn't that the philosophy. Those with money are happy to spend it to be exclusive! I remember i guy i worked with who broke his neck to tell us that Marshalls Land Rover were replacing his ACE system in his Disco II. As if he were better because he goes there and the other 3 of us with Landies fix them ourself. Until he got the bill....hahahaha...£2500......hahahahahah
  4. If it's V8 repairs i can recommend these guys http://www.v8engines.com/ I have bought from these and they know their V8's. They have a massive archive of info with pictures explaining all that has been said about the block casting qualities. If it's been on going for some time why not get the engine stripped and inspected at least you will know what's broken?
  5. I run BFG A/T and i find them a good compromise when i'm driving on grass as they don't chew it up and pay and play days when i'm in the mud. Also the on road manners are very good as i found out when i had to brake from 60 to 0 in a very short time.....BMW drivers grrrrrr!!!
  6. You can do that but it raises the question "How do i get to my battery?" What seats have you bought? You could always relocate your battery to another place?
  7. It happens on mine also. I put it down to being another joy of ownership.
  8. When i bought my 90 it came with a lot of parts that had the MM 4X4 logo on them. The quality of the parts was quite good but i cannot comment their service. However, I have bought plenty from Paddocks over the years and all i can say is perfection. Good stock levels, good delivery times and staff with good product knowledge.
  9. Would I need to fit an extra fuel line to the original tank as a return?
  10. With any modifications i plan to make i try to keep to keep as many standard parts as possible fpor when i am in remote places parts are easier to come by. So thats is why i plan on finding a V8 Disco with LPG as swap it all on to my 90 and replace the tired 3.5 with its carbs for something better. I wouldn't use megasquirt because if I'm in the middle of nowhere parts would be too hard to find.
  11. I happen to like EFI. Do we think this is a good or bad idea?
  12. I am thinking of upgrading my 3.5 V8 on carbs to a 3.9 EFI. I was going to buy a rotten Classic or a Disco as a donor. Hopefully i can find one with LPG at the same time. The swap of engine and wiring loom seems relatively straight forward but the questions are: 1. Will it fit straight onto the existing 5 speed gearbox? 2. What about the fuel lines and the fuel tank? What tank do i use and do i need to plumb in a return fuel line as well? Many thanks,
  13. Buy a laser temperature device and read what temp the pipes are. Are you certain you pressure tested the cooling system correctly?
  14. Just to prove a point remove the stat and replace the header bottle cap with a genuine parts item. Give it a blast and then tell us the results.
  15. Similar problem today... Remove old wooden cubby box and replace with new steel item 10 mins max. Long story short struggled on my own undoing nuts and bolts then found this cubby box is a different footprint so had to be re-drilled. Then struggled on my own again doing up nuts and bolts. Total time 45mins. As soon as i was finished the mrs and the 2 kids turned up to help. At least its finished now and the mrs was so impressed that she took the 90 out for a spin with the kids and came back and said it was quite FUN to drive.
  16. The switched ignition feed so whilst its immobilsed there will be no dash light at all.
  17. Isn't that how you win an argument?
  18. More e-bay rubbish if you want savings on your petrol engine buy a LPG set up.
  19. The beauty of an induction motor over a combustion engine is only realised when you use a Frequency Inverter so you can alter hundreds of parameters for example you can alter : Torque Boost Acceleration De-acceleration Speed via the change in frequency ( pole pairs/frequency*60=output speed) PID DC Injection Braking I could go on for ever on this topic.
  20. Looks very good, some good work gone in there.
  21. Where can you buy a heated front screen from?
