  1. congrats Daan,

Lucky he wasn't black! a mate of mine just had one and it came out black! :o was a shock as neither him or his wife have any black in the family! apparently she said it was because it was April and all boys born in April are black! not sure if it's true or not though as there seemed to be a few white babies in the maternity ward, she said that they were obviously premature and should have been born in May! She seemed to know a lot about it so she must be right! It's obviously your dutch blood then?

    Lara :P

That dont sound like the full story somehow.

  2. Congrats to both mr & ms Daan. And to the brother(-s) and sister(-s) of Adrian also, if he already has ;)

Don't forget to teach him the Dutch language also :D

Yes, and Czech as well. No brothers and sisters, just a cat.

Thanks for all the comments to all.

  3. The only problem I have with the swan neck is that if you shear the balljoint in the field, you are in a world of pain trying to fix it. I normally carry a rebuild kit for this reason, but touch wood havent had to use it yet. I havent done the change yet (but have the disco arm sitting ready to do it). My damper sits on top of the trackrod, to a hole in the radiusarm. This setup works very well and has the advantage that the damper works on both weels directly.

  4. Not wishing to sound negative, but looking at the video of the previous event, I thought it was a big anti climax to me. I was expecting a king of the hammers style event, I saw a local mud bashers pay and play style event. Whether the video didn't do justice to the event, I dont know, but some serious cars are built for the event, and as a result, I expected more.

Please take this as constructive critics, I think any new initiative should be applauded.

  5. Well, I had a go at you regarding classes some time ago. My view is that the current class system does not create a level playing field, hence the downturn in interest. I dont think people think it is too tough, but maybe a brave soul dares saying this?

  6. Works really well; used to do it occasionally when I lived in a shared house. Make sure you put the parts in and switch it on late at night, and be the first out in the morning to unload. Or else a female housemate wont speak to you for days.

  7. I wouldnt use castor correct arms myself, because of the prop problems you get. You can clock the swivels, use a 6 bolt swivel on a 7 hole axle, weld up the holes and redrill (I believe Jez done a few this way). But all the means of castor correction have a problem with landrover: more castor means less groundclearance under you draglink. So what it actually means is more castor means more draglinks bust. As a result, I never bothered.

  8. I would suggest larger calipers from an early 110. They have larger pistons and much larger pads and it is a bolt on mod. check for the brake balance once fitted. Stainless pistons will make things slightly better because of less heat transfer to the fluid. of course vented disks as well, if they are not fitted already. Then pads as already mentioned.

  9. As per the tittle, a friend asked were to get his rebuild, but I cant think any company doing these anymore, and a quick google didn't give the right results. I know LEGS use to do them, but they are no more I believe.

  10. Sorry to say chaps that it adds a lot more strength per weight than tubing the inside of the axle. It doesn't add much weight if you design it right and use the correct material - there is no need to use more than 3mm. The photo isn't the prettiest or best executed but it gives the idea. You can bend a stock Rover axle casing by literaly looking at it especially if you have a reasonable amount of power, big(ish) tyres, high offset wheels and a powerful winch to pull you over stuff (step forward Mr Barker ;) ). Trusses on the top (or bottom) of the axle tend to be of more use if you're jumping the car....

Interesting, has anyone on here actually bend a stock rover housing?
