Buy her a posh looking new oven - you have that one ?
The only solution for peace is to buy her a new kitchen.

All ULTRA4/MSA regs posts are now moved to a dedicated thread in competition so not to clutter this build thread.
Looking forward to the next instalment on this build!

New topic, split up from the ultra 4 build in special builds forum.
It appears this has been going on for a while:

That may be true, but the problem we are having is that different organizers have different regulations; this means that if you plan to build a new car, what rules do you follow? In the uk, even local clubs cannot agree on one set of rules. At least the msa is connected to the FIA, so if all events worldwide would adapt these rules (like with racing and rallying or rally raid), you can build a car to that and go anywhere in the world and compete.
In my opinion, this is why any offroad sport never seems to get recognised, there just never seem to be a clear direction.
My opinion anyway.

I normally take out the master, slave and hose and bleed them as an assembly on the bench. For some reason trying to bleed it in situ just never works. I havent worked out why, but that is the way for me.

you need(ed) an msa spec cage, the rest general challenge rules for safety. When I say needed, It appears that for the king of the valleys, the MSA has pulled out of it from an insurance point of view. What this means for the future with regards of rules, no one seems to know. Sorry if that did not answer your question.
Nice build by the way, please keep the updates coming.

The britpart Alternator I bought in holland, on a saturday morning when the original broke did last about 2k miles. I knew it would be bad quality, but that was worse than I thought. Worst of all, it cost me about 250 euros. It did survive Ladoga, so should I complain?

Is this with or without transferbox?

Hi John,
I have this idea in my head that I want to fit electric cooling fans for the rad but I also want to be sure that the intercooler has enough air flow through it, the problem I have is that with no viscous fan there will be no air movement through the intercooler, or at least very little when in slow moving situations off road.
My idea was/is to try and make use of wasted hydraulic power that is not being used by the steering to run a hydraulic fan to ensure sufficient air movement through the intercooler, figured it would be better that it did something rather than just burning my diesel and circulating round the system under pressure?
Hi, my opinion is the power lost to flow the fluid will be minute. If you were to fit a hydraulic fan, you would up the pressure, and use more power. It would be no different from driving the viscous, except there are 2 power conversions in between, which will give you more losses. I have considered a hydraulic fan for a radiator in the rear, so you dont rely on electric fans only. As you say, removing the viscous will stop all airflow through the intercooler, not good. If you think you are overcooling, I'd say partly blank off the radiator, and the intercooler will get more air flow through it as well.

I wouldn't write off electric superchargers just yet. In the coming year, every F1 car will have an e-turbo, this means that the turbo is not only driven in the conventional way, but electrically as well, to reduce turbo lag. it is also possible to play tunes with this, for example use the turbo to charge the KERS battery.

Does it have a lift? If it is lifted a lot, the bush gets a twist, as the axle rotates. An adjustable panhard can help here.

drill the radius arms?

I would try to fit in something like this (similar to what reb 78 linked to):

I think rallydesign in the uk used to sell them, but they are no longer listed.

Funny I thought I was alone in wanting to go and see the aftermath of a nuclear meltdown
Who would have thought it such a potential holiday resort
Why do you spell it differently Daan?
Oh and I missed out the whole of Georgia too, that is one country I am pretty sure will see me robbed before breakfast unless I go armed It ain't such a big country but it ain't half got some interesting terrain in it from travelers tales.
Ok, bad spelling and the influence of alcohol. Still dont see the attraction of seeing the results of a nuclear meltdown I must admit.
The darien gap does appeal to me in a way, as discussed here. Australia I have not seen yet, or New zealand. It is kind of interesting, but only the thought of 24 hours on a plane immediately blocks my thought process for some reason.
Closer to home, I do realise I have neglected the UK, and I haven't realy seen the lakes, the Isle of man or Devon yet. So lets start there!

from the prices you list there, the entry would work out at 2800 euro (=£2324), for 1 car, 2 support cars and trailer and 3 guys support crew. (i assume 2 of the team are the competitors?). Or am i missing something
and £2680 to get there + 2324 = £5004.
Not pocket money, if you were to try to cut cost, what would you take out of this?

I that the biggest trailer yours can pull ? At least you can keep it indoors out of the way of the theiving g----y illigitimates !
It seems that way, because I dont have a trailer driving license, so 3.5 tons gross weight ain't get you much more!

Well Blanco, that was flattering to be mentioned in your post, especially since I appear to have given you the inspiration to clear out the garage. It made my wife laugh a lot. My garage is really cosy, and clearing out, well that hasn't happened much. Anyway, to counteract dirtydiesels show off picture which makes us all feel inadequate (Cheers, Dan!), I will show you where it all happens.
The reality:
Still impressed? I've had to cut the roof(from the landrover) by 60 mm to get it in on simex tyres. Don't worry about a messy workshop, after all some of the greatest inventors, such as einstein did have a workshop exactly like that.
Happy new year,

I wouldn't use a base vehicle, but build from scratch.
Maybe we can all chip in to export wildfing to croatia, see how it gets on....

I had a feeling that the not being used thing is not helping, especially when dry. A new genuine one is now on order.

I have good stories about great basin, I think Jez from HOFS used to run them in his range rover without problems.
