  1. Hi guys, I've been trying for a long time to find a V belt tensioner for my RV8. you can see it in this pic on the left below the water pump. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rover_V8_engine.jpg Any help appreciated! Cheers Mark
  2. I run a series tank for my trayback, only thing I would say is its rather tall. But for a tank that cost me £20 I cant complain!
  3. You can get 2nd hand ropes for a good price, and a plastic tank would save a good bit. The other option i just though, have you thought about buying or making a fibreglass bonnet? its easy to work with and you can get a mold from your current one
  4. I did a bit of simple maths a while back to work out what caliper would be suitable, once you account for the reduction in the diffs a single hand brake caliper from a 1.6t ish vehicle should be able to hold a standard disco when fitted to the in place of the drum. The diff gearing reduces the force by 3-4 times, weight is a bit more and bigger wheel radius adds a bit and double that as its one caliper not two. So something like a volvo estate ir similar would do.
  5. I read when welding cast it can cause cracking when cooling, is the the case with the arms too?
  6. Thanks for the replys, my problem is I dont have any knolage of big bushes and joints to know whats available and would be up to the job. This is a part that in my mind which could quite be easily to be done in a way that it would not up to the task as its a very complicated part compared to the rest of the setup which unlike the joint can be easily over engineered to be strong! My idea is to attach the 1link with bushes in the original or in a new possition depending on how it can be packaged so it hase some give as dan says. I also posed this question on pirate and I've found a weldable rose joint. Its rated at.80,000lbs and is 4inch od with a 1inch through bolt (double sheer). The other option is a bush like you guys suggested. I just worry about longevity.
  7. I'm trying to come up with a bush/joint to use but keep hitting a brick wall, the only thing I have found is this, but it will cost a bomb to get it and ship it. http://www.zuksoffroad.com/ZOR1link-basic-kit-one_p_175.html
  8. Well due to wanting it soon ill get it shipped. Doubt it will cost that much. But failing that, my dads mrs has family over in the US so my dad goes over a couple times a year. So I cant get it returned if need be. The question is will it be up to the task?!
  9. Could I get people opinions on using this joint for the main 1 link joint, seems to be the biggest joint I can find out there and it has bushing as it has a poly insert. http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/30-Forged-Ultra-Duty-Ballistic-Joint_p_1626.html
  10. The brake come out really good, hope mine comes out something like that!
  11. There's a guy in my local LR club that has twin hydraulic winches, he has an enclosed 15L tank and he used it for vehicle recovery. He said even with almost constant use he had no issues with cooling, but he does also have about 5 meters of coiled up pipe hidden away in the vehicle so might have acted as a cooler
  12. I'd rather spend the time to make it myself than go to work to earn the money to buy one I'll have to see what I can come up with.
  13. Brembo! well that's just showing off I'm just going to scavenge a estate cable/hydro rear caliper from a breakers yard to use with the disc as you need cable hand brake over here for the mot
  14. Soren! I'm planning to do the exact same thing next month by using this, as it has the same center hole size. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331042282198?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 What caliper are you going to use? Citroen as well?
  15. might be a dodgy sensor, when you reload does it reset all the sensors start readins if you get what I mean
  16. had my shed and the neighbours shed broken into on sat night. didnt take anything from either of us! lots of stuff that is worth allot to be taken... looking at possible getting monitored cctv, fairly cheep if there's only a couple cams
