Ive done 400,000 miles total in a couple of Mondeo estates 97 & 98, one was lpg and the other was diesel, tough cars. LPG car blew its head gasket at 150k and the diesel was the most reliable car i have ever had. Cheap maintenance and a very versatile and comfortable car available with all the toys in Ghia trim. The mondeo was the biggest estate in its class.. I would be wary of the newer Mondeos with high milage, eg, if you have to replace an injector, sit down with a glass of strong stuff before you ask the price........ The French make great cars for fleet buyers, but I wouldnt buy one with my own money. How about a BMW 525tds (E34) cheap as chips to maintain and run. High milage cars with FSH shouldnt frighten you off. The same goes for the Merc 300td/290td W124/W210 Just my observations, Cheers, Neil

Hi Richard, I had the same problem on my Disco, If you look at the attached pic....The grub screw connecting #19 and #4 had come loose...... If it is that dont forget to add a smear of locktight. Cheers, Neil

Dont bother matey, I got a dirt cheap MG Metro wheel only to find it doesnt fit, appature far too large, didnt bother counting the splines. Back to square one, Will try a none airbag 300tdi wheel next.............ho hum Cheers, Neil

I m using a little 12v electric heater for when there is frost on the windscreen, other than that its just something else to add on the list, I cant really complain though, after 25,000miles of ownership in 9 months my Disco is doing me proud. Mainly due to replacing worn out parts and alot of help from Rejo, the last being the timimg belt...THANKS MATEY Thanks to Den and Bogmonster for the encouragement. Cheers, Neil

I have the same fault, first started off sounding like something had got trapped between the blades and the housing, probably the bearings have gone, I dunno, but the dash has to be taken out to investigate further.............. Any advice welcome...........

A friend of the family bought this Renault Goeltette 4x4 (Ex French Army Ambulance) for about 700 quid. He thinks its a 2 litre and it does run on LPG. Selectable 2 or 4wd. Pretty rough around the edges but pretty cool in it own right.......... Cheers, Neil

now that you started swinging the lamp, why hasnt anyone mention Gutersloh, It was the best RAF camp in RAFG, closely followed by Laarbruch ! Snowdrops were gits there too, many a time they tried to give me grief parking on double yellas while testing emergency phones.
