  1. have you calibrated the wide band in fresh air? on my lc2 you have to calibrate the sensor in fresh air before fitting and tuning
  2. as per title guys a quicky for the experts, would the 4.6 gems ecu run the ford gen 1 coil packs as we use on megasquirt ?
  3. best way imho is megasquirt it, i did the same with a 4.0 gems into my 90 that was a 200tdi, fridge has basicly listed what needs to be done, i bolted a disco v8 lt77s with adapter to use defender gearchange to the original lt230( gearstick in correct pos), then bolted in engine and welded in new engine mounts, rest is all nuts and bolts work, megasquirt and it will go like stink
  4. Mine does the same but I think it is the usb to serial connection, the usb plug is a bit loose so I tape it down to the laptop
  5. Cheers guys it seams that who ever did the rebuild on this 4.6 used the 4.0 pistons aswell, as I cannot see any difference between the spare 4.0 pistons I have and the ones that are in the block, and I remember seeing a pic somewhere showing the difference in the dish of the 4.0 and 4.6 pistons which is easy to see, so looks like I have had right bargain, hopefully the block will pass the preasure test as I can't see anyone putting money and time into a rebuild of a knackerd block, will update later next week once I test the block.
  6. Picked up another rv8 off eBay the other day a 4.6 bottom end for 100 quid. ( think I have an addiction) Started to tear it down today and it looks like it's had a rebuild resently, as you can see from the pics below the conrods have been punched to mark their location and the bearings look brand new hence the question, from the pic below I think the main bearing maybe +10 oversize can any one confirm? Still need to pressure test the block but even if it's porus I can still put the crank and rods into the 4.0, I also have a spare set of 4.0 Pistons should I use these on the 4.6 rebuild or stick with the 4.6 ones?
  7. To use auto tune in TS you need the full paid version, but it really is good well worth paying for, if you have a wideband sensor and controller then wire it up, but dont get it wet ie dunk it in a river or you will kill it, didn't take me long at all to get a real decent tune on mine using auto tune in ts and a lc-2, it will also work with a narrowband too but just takes longer.
  8. Thanks guys, Bowie once again what would I do without you ? Think I'll start an install thread as I will no doubt have a load more questions.
  9. Going to add lpg to the 4.0 and went and picked up a Blos carb today, still have a few more bits to get and also get the ms modded for table switching, but I have a question about the Blos, will one be enough? as you can see from the pics below its a lot smaller than the diameter of the intake which looks like quite a restriction.
  10. cheers bowie thanks for all your help, went for a little drive earlier and managed to get ts ve analyse working again, and I now have a ve table that looks half decent and she goes so much better :i-m_so_happy:had to start with niges base map again as my old table was wayyyy to rich here's my new table, still needs work but shouldn't take to long now with the lc-2
  11. search for a thread by bowie called target afr tables with a wideband lc1, I use his afr table at the bottom of his thread myself so a big thank you to bowie, I run at 13.5.1 at idle as I find if I go leaner it starts hunting don't know if that's right or wrong as I'm still learning and reading about all this tuning
  12. well what a tit am I fitted new adjustable fpr and couldn't get a reading on the gauge so I thought I must have been sold a dud, took gauge off and attached it to the compressor and it works right must be a prob with the pump, but it was brand new so I took the seat out pulled the pump out and, well the pipe that I had to extend on the range rover pump to fit the 90 tank had disconnected, can't believe it actually ran let alone drove, so reconnected it and now I have pressure time to finally get it all tuned in nice, big thanks to everyone and dave w you got it bang on mate, shall post my new table once I have done a little tuning.
  13. cheers dave the gems does have a vacuum link for the fpr which I have a T connected to for the map sensor, but the fuel pressure is some thing i didn't think of, something to look at as i don't think its the pump as that was brand new from nige when i got the kit. cheers.
  14. bit of an update, as it was me birthday last weekend swmbo got me a lc-2, but turner studio has started playing silly buggers since installing the update and keeps going offline when trying to use ve analyse, so ive gone back to datalogging and using MLV, but still even with the wideband I am still getting high numbers on the ve table as can be seen below, I can only guess that I must have some sort of exhaust leek somewhere so I think its time for a complete new exhaust unless you guys have any other ideas?
  15. yep and a wee bit on the washer aswell
  16. thank you guys, bowie must admit I didn't hit wot on that log as I had the kids with me and just wanted to do a wee log to see if you guys could see anything was a miss, do I calibrate tps every time before a log then? re the afr table, I am using whatever ts and mlv uses as it's default for narrow band, looks like I really need to do some decent datalogging then, thank you so much guys for your help, I will report back once this rain gives over and ive done some decent datalogging.
  17. cheers bowie changed the ext to msq and it has taken it, datalog attached below sat290815.msq
  18. for some reason the uploader wont let me upload the msl datalog file that tuner studio creates?
  19. cheers bowie, looking at the gauges in turner studio they all work fine, but I went out today and did a log and did notice the afr gauge is constantly swinging from rich to lean, it also smells rich, got underneath the motor as well to see if I had any exhaust leaks and couldn't find anything, ive attached the log I did today and current msq, maybe a grown up who knows what they are looking at can see anything wrong 28-08-15.msq
  20. don't bother with Lancaster, had been with them for three years with my 90 then the year before last they sent me my renewal that said they was unable to insure the 90 anymore, when I called them they couldn't give me a reason why , so i told them to stuff it and went with Adrian flux, who even had no issues with the 90 getting its v8 didn't even want anymore monies, funnily enough tho Lancaster sent me a letter a month go saying they had missed me crikey they where the one's who refused to renew the insurance
  21. Thanks bowie the required fuel is 20 ive attached a copy of my current msq as well. 28-08-15.msq
  22. Guys hope you can help, been running one of Nigel's kits for over a year now and to be honest I tuned it a bit in turner studio when I installed ms and then left it and have just been driving it, it's a 4.0 gems v8 in a 90 with manual trans, 1.4 transfer box,,standard LR axles and 33 inch tyres, have been looking at my maps and it drives well but does drink the fuel abit, below is a screen shot of the ve table I have at the moment from ts, from looking at the tables posted in other threads mine seams a bit high, am I doing something wrong?
  23. Cheers ancient geek not sure what js9 is, but maybe a wee pic would help id Top side And bottom
  24. hopefully a grown up can help me here, been running one of nigels kits on m y 4.0 for well over a year now without any probs , but my idle fingers need something to do so im going to add lpg, my question is how can I tell if my ecu has the map switching mod or not.
