  1. ok tried starting it but the jumpers flat as per usual, so ok iv got a spare battery lying around that came out a disco but no tested it 7.4volts so next red top optima and same 6.8 volts so last chance yellow top optima and yet again 6.95 volts and the worst thing is iv left the engine in a make shift frame stuck at the back of the garage so now i cant get in to jump it with another motor. oh and worst of all my battery charger isnt playin ball and i cant find the charger for the jump pack so this experiment is turnin into a right pita.
  2. morning all, i need to split my gearbox and transfer box as iv sold the gearbox, but the question is do i need to drain the oils before splitting or can it be done later?
  3. evening all, iv currently got a 200 tdi listed on ebay and have just been asked if the engine starts. 2 year ago when i bought it it started (still fitted in the disco at the time) now its lay the last 2 years on the garage floor full of fresh oil but has never been started the question is what do i need to do to start it on the floor? full details and pics if possible please as i have no idea what i need to do thanks in advance
  4. will always take reliability over power
  5. been looking around and i can pick up a low mileage 3.9 efi for £500 with ecu and loom included so maybe spend 2k and get a decent job done. after a few hours looking around the v8 forumn it looks like the 3.9's my better choice, especially as i want to keep an lt77 to avoid modding my bodywork dont think the lt77 will handle a 4.6 and gems dosent seem to come too highly recommended due to all the computers involved
  6. ok so im still toiling between a 3.9 efi or 4.6 gems for the 90 but have found a few of each for very little money but most are over the 100k mark. the plan is if i end up with one of these to get it completley rebuilt. now i have 2 questions, 1. does anyone have a rough idea how much a complete rebuild might cost? 2. what upgrades would you have done to the engine whilst bein built? oh an i have another, which engine do you reckon in the long run would be most reliable 3.9 or 4.6?
  7. any chance you could post the pics of the valve please as i could do with an extra tank and havent a clue where to start, my little 2.5 hp (also Aldi) struggles wi my airtools.
  8. if you wanna give them away i would take them for my collection, got a set fitted and never had any probs but i seem to have been aquiring a spare set and cant understand how.
  9. remove wiring from the lights and remove from the tub 10 nuts and bolts along the crossmember need removed 2 nuts and bolts just below the seatbox where the seat belts bolt in need removed 2 nuts and bolts where the seatbox meets the tub on the outer seat belt mount need removed there should be 4 clamps along the rear of the bulkhead which hold the cab to the bulkhead, remove these bolts below your seat belt upper mount there should be 1 long bolt either side, just remove the nut and washer from the bottom of these go right round the roof and remove all the bolts holding the winscreen and rear panel to the roof hey presto it should now just lift off!!
  10. £500 for a 39'000 ml 3.9 efi but they dont gaurantee it £800 for 101'000 ml 4.6 gems neither is fitted up nor can be heard driving but the 3.9 is the one you sent me as an example the other day nige both come with ecu and loom
  11. Ok todays big dilema is which engine do i buy 3.9 efi or 4.6 gems will be replacing 200 tdi and will be mated to a LT77 v8 box to avoid bodywork mods which will be less problematic in the long run all opinions greatfully received oh yeah its to go into a 90!!
  12. is their anyway then that you could possible incorporate a hoop into a truck cab to install harness's or would the space be too limited?
  13. Maybe someone could forward the whole post to britpart if its that bad and give them an insight to whats going on. I personally though havent had any probs with britpart parts yet.
  14. i have the ones in your first link down the sides and rear tailgate, these are weld on but suppose you could always drill and bolt/rivet if need be and the ones in your second link i have just to the sides of the rear indicators so that makes 9 of your first link and 2 of your second
  15. if it helps the hooks on mine are as landrover supplied (spot welded in place) that was 3 each side and 5 along the back
  16. ok so im fitting a 3.9 efi v8 into my 90 (currently disco 200tdi) and wonder if i should be using the 1 or 2 hole fuel tank and also what pump should i be running (part numbers if poss), currently theres no fuel tank as the last one was pee'ing oot so im gona have to replace it anyway.
  17. just wondering if its possible to somehow use the filter housing for the 200 tdi fuel filter for my v8's fuel filter?
  18. just looked at my rear tub, iv got 3 along each side, 3 on the tailgate and 1 on each rear panel making 5 in total along the back.
  19. haha way too late for that, i had a helper when that was originally taken apart for a rebuild and never got a chance to take a note or photo before they had pulled the wires off, so it may be the old case of hit and hope!!
  20. thats a good point especially wi all the carp lying around my garage floor
  21. cheers, im guessing you change them by taking out the small screw in the side and pulling to remove
  22. ok so its full steam ahead with the plan to drop out the 200 tdi and install a nice thirsty v8 but i was wondering if my existing ignition barrel will suit the v8 or do i need a specific one for the v8 ??
