  1. good point, research what your doing before you do it and the jobs sorted
  2. what sort of year, mines 54 plate, loves to tow and its not been chipped, just seems to have loads of grunt. its just turned 99500 mls and gives me absolutley no troubles other than the leaf springs and bushes i mentioned above maybe the big guy aboves just looking out for me
  3. i did consider changing the l200 for a navara but heard too much about mechanical problems with them so stayed with the L200, after all 4 years on and its only had a set of tyres, 1 set of wiper blades, 2 new leaf springs and a set of anti-roll bar bushes, so as long as it keeps going like this it will be staying.
  4. I fitted a defender 200 tdi into the 90 when i got it as the old 2.5 na was gutless, but had a bad run wi that 200 so got a disco 200tdi to fit, went in easy enough, if i had to do it all again i wouldnt hesitate, helped a mate fit out his series 3 109 a while back wi a disco 200tdi also and was equally as easy, now my mates dad is considering buying my 200 for his lightweight project, so will probably end up on that fitting too, but now iv succom to the call of the V8 iv got a slightly more complicated fitting to do. I wouldnt call myself overly competent with engines but the first 200tdi fitting was my first engine swap and have never found it difficult yet.
  5. wow, i must of got discount its £22.99 for the 300mm x 5m roll, if you look further down the page its in the description, obviously theres some problem with the buy it now price listed now. Not sure if its made a difference yet as iv not finished rebuilding the 90 but im gone do the doors, roof, and front of the rear bulkhead too, i may need one more pack to finish it but will probably end up with loads spare, i reckon if you could get a 300mm x 1.5m roll that would be more than sufficient for your bulkhead.
  6. http://www.powersteeringonline.co.uk/ have used this guy a few times and never had a problem with his stuff, his prices are very reasonable too, he get recommended from a landrover specialist near me
  7. just soundproofed mine with rattlemat, id say its 2 - 3 mm thick and the dash still fits great, looking at it, it could probably have been thicker, just make sure to leave the areas where the dash bolts/screws up flush to the bulkhead and you will be ok. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290722494595?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  8. id agree with stuck, my l200 has the "cart springs" on the back, great when laden or towing but hoorid when empty
  9. ok so having done some research i think i need an early v8 flywheel and a 10.5" clutch, does this sound right to anyone?
  10. ok so the LT77 arrived late this afternoon for my V8 plans so iv spent the evening mounting the transfer box back on and getting the lot flushed with fresh oil, but iv been standing looking in puzzlement at the main shaft, it only sticks out past the bellhousing by approx 1/2 to 3/4 inch and im not sure if thats correct, any suggestions?
  11. ok found a pdf copy, now just need to print it off
  12. just found it in a roundabout way through a different post - frc 6066
  13. ok so the old diesel LT77 was collected last thursday and the new/refurbed LT77 V8 arrived today, so not wanting to waste time iv started putting the transfer box back on to the gearbox, all's bolted up and the high/low shift is connected but now iv realised im missing the bracket that connects the centre pin on the diff lock rod to the gearbox to allow it to function, anyone any idea of the part number or even proper name for this part?
  14. looking at that id be very tempted to replace the bulkhead
  15. upper - MTC 3499 lower - MTC 3801 (early), MTC3500 (late)
  16. you mite have to remove the grey trim along the back to make the job easier and the panel as above
  17. Looking at overhauling the v8 before i fit it to the 90, new lifters, cam, gaskets, water pump, timing gear, maybe even piston rings but iv never rebuilt any engine before never mind the V8 im pretty handy with the tools and not afraid to give it a go my question is has anyone used the landrover V8 overhaul manual before and would they recommend it for what i want to do?

  19. evening, recently iv decided to replace my 200 tdi with a V8 so have now purchased a 4.6 gems engine and LT77 V8 box, tonights question is do i need a different flywheel as the current one has come from an auto and if so which one? which clutch should i be fitting?
