  1. Ok great, got a set of injectors off nige, all tested good so fitted the set, now running wonderfully again Have vaselined the 8 injectors and the MAT, CTS and PWM plugs too! Cheers boys!
  2. No! Last weekend made another long trip out but then lost an injector so had to drive home on 7. Will keep this updated!
  3. Hmmm, nice idea, would be worth a shot I tested mine last night and my bad one is open circuit so definitely needs replacement but will certainly run some cleaner through afterwards!
  4. Hi nige Hammering was the first thing I tried but it didn't work!
  5. Sparking the injector pins with petrol vapour about sounds like a laugh!
  6. Well Here's an update. I haven't bothered to fix the oil leak, seems to be fixing itself slowly (yes it still has oil in!) So fitted the case and retuned for an hour or so. Jumped on the motorway on Saturday fully loaded with gear and fuel to go off roading in Wales. This resulted in a dead injector but that's another story. Anyway on the drive there I took it fairly steady so cruised at 75mph approx This now gives me rpms around 3000 My MAP was around 65kpa My AFR was around 14.7-15.5 This is without an Eco tune! Result!
  7. Hi fridge Well it's home and washed now so I can look at it properly in the week. Lots of rusty pins I guess but definitely one dead injector. I will check the resistance of all of them. Glad to hear your engine survived the misfires. I will check them all and Vaseline them up, same with my MAT and CTS. Question, regards injectors, I notice allmakes supply them for around 30 quid new but perhaps I'd be better picking up a used rail full for presumably similar money then I have future spares? Cheers, Sam
  8. Yup Faulty injector Decided to drive it home!
  9. Update, pretty certain it's an injector at fault Lean tickover and no fuel sprayed out of plug hole when running 15 mile from hereford
  10. Hello! Currently somewhere in mid Wales not far from Hereford, developed a misfire on one or two cylinders. Car was left overnight after off roading yesterday, fired up ok ran for 10 minutes then pulled over for 5 mins and restarted with a miss. We have some spark but not sure how much, removed and wd40 in the injector plugs, many of which were wet and rusted (some of the injector pins are rusty, could do with new injectors) but still can't find a reason for a miss. I have a very long drive home to Manchester and am somewhere west of Hereford area. I am concerned about driving with the misfire! Any help or ideas appreciated hugely! Phone signal is average so please text 07818044463 if you can help! Thanks Sam
  11. but if it runs with hand over intake there is a problem, if it doesnt there is not!
  12. The gaskets are often not handed, but the better ones are. I dont honestly think it makes any difference. What baffles me with this is that you definitely definitely definitely, know for a fact for sure definitely have an air leak and yet it cant be found. What about runnthe engine up, hand over the intake, rev it up as best you can and then shut it off, that might give a decent amount of vacuum for you to be able to trace the hissing sound?
  13. Thinking on, I dabble with DJing now and then and I have some smoke machines. We could pump your engine full of smoke and see where it leaks out, if the air method doesn't work.
  14. Yeah mate I'd say so. You can hear the hissing in the vid on mine and it sounded like front valley seal. There is oil soak around there also which would confirm that. Wherever your crankcase leak is, it's a big enough one to run on. I would work on the compressed air idea to find your leak
  15. Will get a minute and try to stall mine mike. Watch this space
  16. Do the hosepipe test on everything Can't believe this hasn't been found yet, IF it is a mechanical issue
  17. Aye, that glove idea is a handy one
  18. Yeah 80-85 is definitely the sweet spot, just right, not too toasty They go a bit flat too warm, mine used to run too hot on electric fans and it wasn't as crisp. Viscous all the way for me now to be fair, plus leccy fans lower surface area of radiator! Could you duct yours to a viscous at all for better efficiency? I know fan ducts are a pain, i ditched mine cos with the 4 row radiator it never has to work that hard I guess on a dump spec 3.5, but the viscous draws more air than an electric could dream of, although I guess at least with electric you can force them on. With your new rads extra capacity and efficiency you will hopefully squeeze by on the stock pump. At least the rad will supply plenty if not surplus cool water now, just hope the pump can shift enough of it!
  19. Without looking at this and having the chance to be baffled myself I've gotta say im sorry but I'm sure you must be missing something here and probably quite simple. The hosepipe technique is very good for finding air leaks.
  20. If you have a faulty plenum top it would explain why you have not been able to find a leak so far yes. If you connect the original pipe between the two idle valve ports and you do NOT have a stepper valve fitted then it will rev very high indeed, because you have a straight pipe from one side of the throttle flap to the other. I would be fitting a pwm valve personally, when I fired mine up and didn't know about the throttle heater problem I couldn't get I below 1500rpm no matter what I did, but me personally would fit your pwm valve so that you're running your exact correct setup and MSQ settings before trying to fiddle anything to get it right.
  21. Would be easy enough to pressurise the plenum assembly, just remove the MAT sensor if you need a handy hole. When we are pressure testing at work we use a tyre valve fitted into the tyre pressure gun, the soft rubber and rounded shape makes it easy to squish into most holes etc and get a good seal. Failing that, get a thread adaptor of correct description and thread into hole then fit PCL male and connect to airline hose. All you have to do is block your air filter inlet or snorkel top etc. Did you know, handy trick, get engine running and get mate to block plenum inlet (maybe use wood etc cos this could take a while) Get a good seal and make sure the leak is working to its full potential, then grab a short piece of hosepipe and put one end in your ear then work around the engine with the other end. You will VERY CLEARLY hear the air rushing in when you put the end of the hose near the leak!
