  1. I was heading that way James, but SWMBO has said she has no desire to go out in it, so whilst this stance may soften, it wouldn't be more than a handful of outings a year, hence why I've gone back to the 90 idea with seats. My 3.5yr old and I have just had a boys trip out for a couple of hours laning in the snow in the borrowed 110, reminded me why I love LR's, and obviously a 90 is fine for boys trips out.
  2. Thanks guys, food or thought. Richard - pictures would be useful when you have a moment thanks. No rush though, I'm still at early negotiation stages with the garage about a 90, so it'll be a few weeks before its on the drive
  3. As the title says, is there any seating that is safe for use with child seats for the back of a 90? Little ones are currently 3.5yrs & 5 weeks old. I know the inward facing ones aren't, but am finding conflicting information on the front facing ones. The other alternative is to get a 110, but most have the low back rear seats, so ££ required to change over. Currently have a 110 on loan for a few days to test out the Defender experience again, but the 110CSW feels huge compared to my old 90
  4. So after 4 months of being back in LR ownership with the Freelander, the time has come to get a proper one. The Freelander is actually quite a nice drive, and I'll miss the auto box, but I'd rather be able to use a LR for laning, pay & play days etc. Due to the low mileage we cover and limited drive space (and lack of <£2k 90's) three vehicles aren't an option, so I'm looking to swap the Freelander in for a 110CSW. Convieniently enough my local LR specialist who has supplied a few of my LR's (including the Freelander) and serviced them all has a 1995 300TDI 110CSW, which would be a swap plus a bit of cash my way for the Freelander. Having had 3 defenders, I seem to remember being cold in the winter, occasionally getting a wet knee after it had rained, not being the fastest thing on the road but not the slowest, useless window demister, a tendancy to get muddy clothes climbing in & out, but ultimately an enjoyable experience, life at a slower pace Is there anything I'm missing? Happy New Year to all
  5. Holy thread resurection batman Great thread, here's a few from way back...
  6. I've just got a 5dr and have fitted a dog guard to allow me to load through the back window and utilise the floor to roof space, as the boot is otherwise very small. Although, thinking about it I never thought the boot in my Disco was that big given the size of the vehicle. My Passat estate swallows the world, his wife, the dog and the dog's friend

  8. OK, I do still lurk, even if I have sold my LR and turned over to the dark side that is speed In contrast to Chris, I can't recomend WJ Joyce in Trowbridge enough, speak to Adrian and get past the slightly cold shoulder and discover a guy who knows more about LR's than there is to know........if you can handle the 'attitiude' as it is (never had a problem myself) it is an excellent place to take your LR. There is an odd day living here in darkest Wiltshire when I miss my LR, and hanker after another.....maybe one day when I have a lot more time than now
  9. Congratulations Mark & Nicky Wonder if the LR will get much attention now? You won't get much done, but you won't mind as little people are great - enjoy being a new Dad. Haven't tried Toby with a spanner (well I did sell my LR virtually a year ago....) but I reckon give him LR tool no.1 (well maybe LR tool no. 1/2 - a full size lump hammer is a bit much for a 10month old) and he'd do a pretty good job. Its amazing how plastic toys can do so much damage to furniture
  10. Certainly was a good day, picture taken moments before a 'Darwin Award Candidate' warden turned up and parked on a winch wire.....
  11. I may have got into three figures on more than one occasion when travelling to and from work during the open times in August last year and the year before........ Gets a bit interesting in the winter with all the wet mud on the road if you're in a LR - four wheel drifts anyone My guess: 130, with a LR driving warden trying to keep up
  12. Right, after missing BDB06 I have got my leave pass application in already for this one Willing to biatch / Wallah or marshall as required
  13. Thats me that is Needed to change my car a few months back as couldn't fit the buggy in the boot, and decided to sell the underused LR as was also moving house & needed the cash, knowing that despite it being underused it would be much missed. So I went out and spent £12k on a nice car and all was well. Then about 3 weeks ago I started to miss having a LR........... then about two weeks ago I started to have the odd look at autotrader and ebay..........then last week it dawned on me...... Why didn't I think about spending my £12k on a nice, blingtastic 110CSW when I had the chance? It would given me all the space I needed and a LR for offroad when I had the odd 5 minutes. B*gg*r, feck and ar*e Ahh well, if I cut down on the pies & pints I might have enough cash for a cheap LR , although IIRC I've been down that road before and failed
  14. Toby William And just what I thought
  15. Unfortunately after attending the previous birthday bashes, I won't be able to make it down for this one. I had intended to offer myself up as a biatch / wallah for Bish / Mark90 after their help last year, but will instead be looking after this little fella. Hopefully will be able to get out later in the year, looking forward to seeing the pictures of this event & happy birthday for August Tony. [Raises voice over choruses of 'told you so']Whilst I haven't got time to use a LR at the moment I am missing having one, so early next year when the bathrooms, kitchen, building works & decorating are finished in the new house, I shall probably see whats about and re-enter the LR fold [lowers voice] PS: And yes he is mine, hard to believe he has come out looking so normal I know
  16. Thanks for the reminder Steve, certainly moving websites Sitting here with my 18 day old son, thanking the day I met his mum which stopped me accepting the commission offer from the Royal Marines, big respect and gratitude to those in the services.........
  17. Burp Just got in from wetting the hybrid's head; finally arrived on Monday. Will see if I can earn enough brownie points changing nappies to get a leave pass for the weekend biatching & drinking.
  18. Jim There is a place on the Beckhamtpon - Devizes road in the farm buildings on the left about half way along, MDM (?) does shotblasting & power coating so may also do galvanising.
  19. Funnily enough I came across a t-shirt just the same Les when I was packing my stuff up to move house. Guess I wasn't there then either....
  20. Will Probably also available from motor spares shops, was not Halfords own make. Found mine easy enough to remove when I sold it, and for £20 does it really matter if you need to redo it in a few years?
  21. Went down the DIY route with my Discovery. Got the film from Halfords - think it was about £18. Applying was easy, cut to the desired shape, spray soapy water on the window and apply film. The water / soap mix allows you to easily move the film around and use a squeegie to get the air bubbles out. Then just leave to dry. Easy to obtain good results for little cash.
  22. HERE Nice to see they have left the Leicester Tigers sticker in the back

    My 90

No haven't tried eBay, but have a lot going on at the moment and want a quick sale. Have spoken to a few dealers I know and they gave revised pricing, hence the drop in classifieds. The price I am being offered is not too far removed and is just to buy it off me rather than trading it in. Just need to get time tomorrow to strip the bits off it. If anyone wants the exmoor trim seats & cubby box with LR logo fabric in exchange for standard seats & £ then shout, be a pity to waste them
