  1. I have recently used Trim-fix spray adhesive to stick aluminium coated insulation to the inside of a 110 hard top and also carpet to the insulation and a painted bulkhead. It sticks well, is made for the job and can withstand high temperatures, I was concerned about using a spray adhesive inside but masking off was easy and the spray was very controllable, and it hardly smells and stays workable ie. stick slightly wrong then easy to peel and stick again. This one but i bought elsewhere.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIM-FIX-HIGH-TEMP-ADHESIVE-500ML-SPRAY-GLUE-X-1-CAN-/261748564124?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
  2. It will have a build plate confirming tart status, all on their web site.
  3. Hi Richard, I think the above answers your question. The limit applies to the assistance and the recovery to a local garage, That is 300 for assistance and 300 for towing, I don`t think you could exceed that by much unless you were 8000ft up a mountain track and 15km from tarmac and a long way from any town. If your vehicle is not repairable within 3 days then the insurance kicks in to get you home. They will fly you home and you will then wait for your truck to be delivered . You also get an ADAC sticker for your screen, since fitting to my 90,it has shown a gain of around 5bhp and now returns about 40mpg. Seriously, it`s time for you to ring them. Regards John
  4. No, i did find an explanation of it all when i did my research last year, i think it was on a UK motor home site. Basically, the limit is enough to pay for a road side visit and local recovery and that is all you need, after that the insurance kicks in to recover you, or pamper you in Jasons case, i know it seems too good to be true. The monthly mag is a laugh too! Not really.

  6. Yes, ring them..they all seem to speak English. Their breakdown cover only pays 300 euro towards assistance and 300 euro towards towing. In the UK i want the security of being anywhere and know i`m good to get home with the vehicle with no extra charges. I have just checked my paperwork, i actually paid 109 euros. I was paying more than that for three weeks euro cover with the AA! ... on top of my annual fee. I am sure there is a write up on here of someones experience of recovery from europe by ADAC. i will try and find it.
  7. I was with the AA until last year and i have no complaints about the UK service. Getting cover to take a 30 yr old 90 abroad was the problem, those that would insure always stated that repatriation of the vehicle would depend on its value! For foreign cover i used the AA each year on the basis i was a member for a good few years and gained some discount...even so i paid way over the odds for three weeks single trip cover. I was assured that if i carried the ins valuation certificate it would ensure repatriation....nothing in writing though. After discovering ADAC on this forum and reading of some real life experiences of their service, i joined last year. 120 euros for me and my wife, 12 months cover anywhere in europe. I don`t actually intend to use them in the UK and will purchase some UK cover elsewhere eventually. For anyone taking an older truck abroad i don`t think there is a better option.
  8. It was the most informative reply i could think of...... punctilious? Yeah,i admit it ......One tens and Ninetys are not Defenders.
  9. yes, all was well, good earths with no previous problems other than dodgy bulb holders. Set the flasher relay as instructed and found all four flashing together when indicating left or right. I rang them, as i did not suspect a poor earth, and they were aware of the problem, they suggested i replace the dash indicator lamp with a led one. I was sceptical but it worked.
  10. I had this happen when i fitted them to my 1984 90. Call the supplier and they will send you a led bulb for the dash, cured mine.
  11. That was an interesting read. This vehicle has two remote fobs and self immobilises after a few mins, i guess it is at its robust setting? I was not aware that Td5s had different features regarding the alarm immobiliser, this is the only one i`ve seen. As for why bother? It is just a handy, cheap level of security to add to whatever else one might do to keep their pride and joy. Plenty of Td5s get stolen so i think extras are worth it, hopefully never needed. I like the idea of the inertia switch, i will investigate. What is a BBUS ? a quick google revealed nothing. Thanks again
  12. Yes, only as a last resort, although i will test it. Many thanks.
  13. I am fitting a device to my friends Td5 110. The device is able to stop the vehicle by opening a circuit, via a relay , when sent a text message. I have fitted them to Tdi`s and the chosen circuit is pretty obvious! I was thinking of interrupting the supply to the fuel pump on the Td5 but am concerned the ecu may see a fault or even cause a problem elsewhere. Could anyone advise the sensible way of turning off a Td5 remotely with a single relay in a safe manner? Thanks John
  14. Undo hinge to bulkhead screws, lift the door. Been a few years since i changed doors but i am pretty sure there is some adjustment there, get a helper to lift the door.
  15. Depends what size tyres you have of course but I will return to a 1.4 when I get a round tuit. Standard 200tdi turner engine with performance head, standard fuel pump settings, 265/75 tyres. Others are happy with a 1.2 but it does not work for me, need fourth gear for long motorway hills otherwise E.G.T.s rise v.quickly. I think Landrover got it right. 1.4 plus overdrive would get my vote. A tuned td5 would be very different but for a 200tdi, forget it.
  16. I`m going so can bring it back to Uxbridge area , I am then driving near Haslemere to visit friends in Havant either the following weekend or the one after. Let me know. John
  17. Our fridge/freezer gets tied to lashing eyes I fitted in the Ninety. Don`t forget to keep the compressor vents away from a bulkhead.
  18. If it is an inverter M/W then it will not have the transformer. I would clean it. Take the case off and clean the inside of the case, clean the oven cavity and all should be well. Perfect then for reheating the tea/coffee you let go cold when working on your truck. If it does have the transformer then be careful because the capacitor may hold a charge, short it out with some insulated long nose pliers. No need to flinch, the most you will experience is a little `tick` noise and a tiny spark but the charge can be lethal.
  19. You could try popping the top seal up to see if you can coat hanger the mechanism through he gap, not sure what you can see down through the gap though but will only take a minute to look. Failing that I think it means door card off, you should still be able to reach the screws and the rest pops off, then it`s coat hanger time.
  20. I did try and put a "wink" smiley in at the end but alas it did not work, nor when I went to edit it. I am sure anyone believing that shed heater suggestion would be too challenged to find the door switches or know what to do with them. Having said that I do know of someone who did it because he wanted to see what the leakage would be and from how far it could be detected.
  21. You can put metal in a microwave oven, in fact it is recommended that you place a spoon in the container when heating liquids. If you only place metal in there though without anything else to absorb the microwaves they will bounce back down the wave guide and the magnetron will eat itself eventually. I can`t think of any think you could do with it that could not be done more simply another way. You could over ride the door switches and run it on full power as a nice little shed heater.
  22. All that work and it still needs a windscreen seal, and they spelled prat incorrectly.
  23. I recognise the blue/white series , lives in Prestwood. I admire the battle scars when I drive by.
