  1. If its the pipe I thinking of, haynes says 25nm.
  2. Yep - got mine taped where needed, I never noticed a drain - best check I have got them on the right way!!!
  3. My two pence worth is simple....a Landy is a hobby, if you dont want a vehicle to also be a hobby in your spare time - go for a van. I get as much enjoyment reading several forums as tinkering with the actual car.....I spend a large amount of time reading, tinkering, changing, fixing, servicing, and I dont do many miles. If you could see yourself going to a landy show for the day and thinking its the best day of the year then a landy is for you. If you want to "just add fuel" its not the vehicle for you (not in that price range unless your really lucky and hold out until you find a perfect one). As I said, my two pence worth - not worth much!!
  4. Disconnect neg on battery, clean all connections both sides with wire brush, bit of sanding, till nice and shiney, both connector and area connected too.
  5. Should be one earth from battery to gearbox casing, engine strap (on mine from rhs of engine, looking from front, half way down to chassis bracket) and one side of fuel filter on bulkhead - under drivers window in engine bay - black wire attached). HTH.
  6. Quick update on this - I noticed the viscous fan clutch was dead, so ordered a new one for £30, so as i had already paid delivery costs I ordered a Bearmach temp sensor PRC2505 to replace the previously ordered Britpart PRC2505, just in case. Guess what - engine temp is perfect now. Cheers
  7. Got the same problem on mine, will be interesting to know if you find out what it is. Mine disappears only when I put the clutch in.
  8. Thanks Snagger - just checking.
  9. Morning Chaps Just faffing with the old girl seeing what else needs doing for MOT, can anyone let me know the following: - Shes been on tick over for about 15 mins, top hose has got hot close to the engine, so thermo is opening (just put a new one in) but the rad end is still cold and rad is cold, takes at least 20-30 mins before rad starts to heat up starting from top hose corner to bottom hose corner (around further 10 mins until full rad is hot). Is this right or is water pump running slow? Cheers 19J 2.5TD Al
  10. One seller states - Will Only Fit 2003 Vehcles Onwards - Can Fit Earlier with Mods to One Bracket Near Fuel Tank
  11. I would say not - sellers dont usually reduce their target buyers unless they have too! Ive just had a look at a few and they all say 2003 onwards. Stick with rock and tree sliders - or get imaginative with fittings if you really want them.
  12. They look smart and a decent enough price. The tinted would look good on mine - my wife aint going to like you for putting extra "bits" I now want!
  13. Thanks Western - I dont have access - however, I came to start the Landy this am and got ignition lights and then a spark from battery on attempted turnover then dead. Took neg terminal off repeated x 2 same thing. I have taken the dash off again and completely removed the bulb wire, it was either this or I disturbed something. When put back together truck started........Im just going to live with the high temp reading until I can afford an auto elecy trip after MOT. Im just going to end up making things worse I think!! Thanks anyway. Al,
  14. Evening I have removed the earth from the broken light and also tried another temp sender. It no jumps all the way up immediatly then falls down and up and all over the place then settles and reads high. Anyone have any suggestions of where to head next? Many thanks
  15. Hope the daughter is recovering - I know the feeling (ish) my 12 year old has severe asthma and when she has an attack my world ends!!! Congrats on the 110, Im just putting the finishing bits to my 1989 90 CSW. Its a good feeling when you get a 12 month ticket!!!
  16. Hi Western You appear to be my personal Land Rover guide at the moment!!! Thanks for that! If I remove the earth, again my lack of electrics showing, this won't mean I have a live wire floating around the back which could cause problems? I dont want an electrical fire after all my work so far!! Thanks.
  17. Hi All I have just taken the dash off and the only thing I could note was that the bulb connection for the volt meter had melted and broken off. This is earthed (now the disconnected melted part) to the back of the temp? As I said I know nothing about electrics. Could this have any effect? Thanks
  18. Thanks Dave - Yes was a britpart - but as you said with the other bits making it change I do too think its an earth issue. Where do the temp gauge, lights (full beam and side) and heater earth too? I assume I just need to tidy that one up as well? (1989 19J 2.5TD CSW 90) Many thanks Alan
  19. Hi All Replaced Temp sender as guage was not registering at all. Guage now goes up - all the way up - slowly but just doesnt stop until half up the red on idle. Engine temp is fine. Ive stripped down the earth to the gearbox and cleaned it up and also the bulk head earth next to the fuel filter (2.5TD). Noticed whilst messing that the temp suddenly jumps when I put my lights or heater on. Can anyone tell me what to do please? Im colour blind by the way meaning electrics are not helpful! But, if I know what to do (and someone posts a reply which I can print out) the Mrs will point the colours out to me if I need to change anything etc. As you can appreciate I have always stayed away from electrics for my own safety so Im rather inexperienced. Many thanks Alan
  20. Cackshifter/Pete/Western Thank you, thank you and thank you. Right part arrived today and went on a treat - much obliged. Was given some bad part numbers to start with and the descriptions on the items when ordering are poor to say the least. You have all just made my day. Al.
  21. Oopss - sorry meant to add - or is this just F'in up my box thread?
  22. Hi Adam Its a recon SB, drop arm is new and slides straight on to position, I cant for the life of me find any other part than AEU4026 for any 4 bolt box nut? So it must be the right part? Could it just be the paint they sprayed when reconin' the box? I.e I should put on take off and repeat, repeat x10 and hope it gets looser? Cheers
  23. Hi Jamie I have a 19J on a CSW which will happily sit at 65 but not much more, again conversation is not a strong point at that speed, however, just to the right of temp gauge is fine IMO. I have fitted a new radiator, flushed her, done full service etc. Shes currently on 235/70/R16 (Old, old, MT's) but i will move up to 235/85/R16 when these tyres are dead (MT's again) as I do quite a lot of off road stuff - fun only but that is what she was bought for - not a daily truck. Cheers
  24. Hi Pete Not sure is the honest answer, i assumed that if it threads on ok for the first two turns its ok, or is that me being naive? Regards
  25. Sorry - anyone know if i have ordered the wrong parts as these were basically advertised as being the right part numbers on some sites but on others only states Disco 1989-94?? Confused.com.
