Launch of South Wales 4x4 Response Group
The newly formed 4x4 Response Wales Group which is an extension of the Powys 4x4 Response Group will be holding a recruitment and information meeting on Thursday 27th November at Royal British Legion The Lock House/Riverside Station Rd, Aberdulais, Neath, SA10 8ES.
Local Co-Ordinator Jim Wallace together with our Training and Development Officer Kevin Murphy and Group Co-Ordinator Mark Margetts will be attending the meeting which will hopefully be the first of a regular monthly meet. They will be outlining the plans and ambitions of the all Wales Group and providing an overview of the newly adopted Training and Development plan.
They are also hoping to announce a training and assessment weekend to be held in the Llandovery area in January or February.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the Group and might be potentially interested in joining will be most welcome. Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.
More information is available at www.4x4responsewales.org and www.4x4response.info
Please email info@powys4x4response.org if you are planning to attend.
I have sent Dave a link to Bolt on drop boxes for D60 axles. I found it when looking for drop boxes for LC 80 series axles. Still not found them, but I do know they are out there somewhere. I found a site that make the for Nissian axles and are planning ro make them.

Have it sent up on a large pallet, will cost 1 1/2 pallets and be about £70. Weight would not be a problem. Even if they charge you for a double pallet it will only be £90.

I have to agree. It will not hold for long. It needs grinding out and rewelding. If you can not get hold of a good mig welder try getting an ARC (MMA) welder. a lot cheaper fot the same amps.
Paul
Now I know there is 2 types, one is "ok" for mig welding and the other is not
Now what are the 2 and what is the one that is OK to use?
BTW this is for a friend as I use the proper stuff and can not take my full size bottle down there every time he wants a little welding.

For a start Disco wheels are not rated for a 110.
But if its a second set I would say go for a set of remoulds. Some thing like Insa Turbo special tracks.
Paul
The first pictures, at night, are of the other end of the lane. He throught he could get out that way, but the driffs were about 8-10 foot deep at that end. But yes he was glad it was out in the end.
Paul
He was on Simex copies. But I could only get within 200-250 meters of him with F&R lockers and 35" tyres. The snow was over 4 foot in places. If you look at the roof of his Disco the snow on the roof was about 18"s. Bigest problem was snow under the axles lifting the wheels.
Paul
I think they are out now.
I did offer to pick them up last night, but the offer got turned down. But as above I think they are out. But I can not get an answer from his phone.
Paul
Jusr took me about 10 mins to get in. Keep getting the

A mate of mine went up the Wayfarer , North Wales, last night. He's still there waiting for the tractor to get him and the other 2 out.
Since he got stuck, the snow has drifted up to the spare wheel on the back of his Disco. I did offer to go and recover him, but he said I would not get there now.
Last I heard hes still there
