  1. Pictures from an incident in Crawley, lifted from a press release. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3
  2. This is the compressor from a series 2 discovery, it usually lives on the side of the chassis under the passenger side, there is a top cover missing. I saw this at Sodbury and thought about buying it. As I recall "A" is the intake. "B" is the air out via a solenoid which has connections not shown in the picture. "D" is I think a pressure regulator, the top bayonets off and has a spring underneath. "C" is the connection to the solenoids marked "E" which is full pressure from the compressor, these solenoid valves control the rear air bag pressures. "F" is obviously the plug, try live into the brown wire. This is all from memory when I played with one just the same last year, please don't blame me. Very fine compressor and the solenoid valves make it quite versatile.
  3. Si has been talking about the weight this week and reckons that the original weighs much the same as the new disc conversion because the caliper is so heavy. He is however considering a light weight version, which is apparently required for comp safari racers. The problem is gettting a caliper/disc setup which will offer enough stopping power but be light weight I guess.
  4. It's because when it is fitted with the KAM locker the locking dog slides up and down the shaft. Some people have had trouble with the spline twisting with the locker engaged and then not being able to unlock.
  5. He was enjoying a day out in the countryside for his birthday today.
  6. I'll get my test driver in training then Mark. Looks good well done.
  7. I think you'll find that it depends which year EFi it is. Mine were all 3/8 unf.
  8. It's amazing isn't it but not that uncommon. In the summer our local LR main stealer has an open day on a local estate where customers are allowed to drive in convoy with "professional" off-road drivers (a collection of members of our club) as escorts. Before setting off with about 15 customers in a convoy, the lead and tail car drivers walk the line up to check that they know how to put it in low and use traction control etc. some of the cars you have to just turn and walk away for fear of offending them. These people own these cars, have done for a year or more and never read the manual and have, in some cases, no idea what the "little knob" does. Needless to say it's funny the first few times you hear it but by the end of the day it just isn't!
  9. And they say mine looks like a climbing frame.
  10. No, missed the drain plug. No not my home workshop. Have more kit at home.
  11. Thanks Steve, some food for thought there, problem is no one in the US will deal with me in the UK, ehat I need is someone who travels across the pond to help me.
  12. Money, money, money. 2x1 15mm thick steel plate on 50mm box section frame. doesn't rust because I work 9hrs a day on it.
  13. I wondered how long that would take you Chris.
  14. Fitting a standard "open" diff. Couldn't possibly discuss the fine details at this stage and certainly not in public.
  15. On Sunday I set out to finish modifying the inner wings on the rogue, before you know it I slipped with the grinder and cut the steel brake pipe on the inside of the wing. So, having inadvertantly started modifying the brakes I decided to kill two birds with one stone and fit 3-link along with new brake pipes, as I would have to change the flexible pipes anyway. So, this is the result so far..... I also incorporated a diff guard..... We'll see where it goes from here.
  16. At that stage it was still a work in progress, looked a lot better finished but, no, not my best work.
  17. My old rogue, rogue2. About 16"
  18. The filler is the standard filler neck from a 1986 RR. The mounting bracket is one i made myself.
  19. Vacuum guage on ebay. Smiths, hard to find nowadays.
  20. It depends what you want the back end to look like, if you want to keep original corners and lights then you want to cut out 15-16", if you cut out 18" then large tyres will hit the back of the light fittings. If you aren't worried by changing the lights then cut off level with the back of the tyres and fabricate body arround a roll cage.
  21. What's happened to the look of the forum, the name seems to have been replaced by the Invision logo. Can I have the old name and icons back?
  22. On that note, how much does it cost per week, month to keep the forum up? I want to know that i'm paying my way and all.. This is not an area where I have much knowledge or concept.
  23. If it was first registered in 1967 then it can't be a series 3, can it?
  24. Just filled up at the local Sainsburys, very busy, the girl in the shop told me that it was because the local Tesco is shut as they sold out and the Shell stations on the bypass are almost out of unleaded!! All this and it's only monday, seems they only need to threaten protests nowadays.
