  1. we have been considering going there but have heard plod hovver about outside doing roadside mot type tests and confiscating 4x4s for stupid reasons..... seen lots of videos of people rolling cars there too!!
  2. i was prompted to start watching it when i walked into the room and a bloke had a diff in bits in the middle of a field!! just looked like an average sunday for us until i saw lions and stuff!!! i had my last disco in that deep once but the cab filled up a lot quicker than his and i got stuck in it and ended up perched on the headrests till i got pulled back out!!
  3. have probably had 20 lannys now of all different shapes and sizes.. they dont help a bit on road.. the disco has a heavy steel roof and a high centre of gravity so it will roll naturally.. a small metal bar between the axle and chassis will not couneract this!! the rangie in this pic had anti roll bars an it clipped a kerb doing approximately 20mph...... the disco towing it had them removed and it has never been on its side!!
  4. i just picked up a set of terrafirma shocks the other week but only been out in it once since! not remote reservior ones but the +2" ones with +2" springs made the front of my disco very stiff and bumpy.. (might also be the 3" blocks under them too though)!
  5. from memory i think the brackets bolt on to the chassis and the axles are cast with the mounting points in them.. can i ask why you want to fit them?? i take them off mine.. they dont make a bit of difference on road and hinder you off road.... your best bet for getting the bits is off one that is being broken for spares..
  6. i love ads like this.. it once took the missus and i about half an hour to read an ad on ebay for a passat.. was all in red. caps lock and had been written by someone who clearly didnt speak a lot of english!!
  7. 2.8?? why dont you just go the whole hog and stick some mud tyres on the big rig!! you out tomorrow?? if not will you be in your unit?? need to have a look at this prop.. sounds like it is going to come through the floor!!
  8. pretty sure farecla g6 wont pollish that out!! try the g3 compound.. if that does not work.. buy some panels..... looks like too good a motor to strip for bits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for your near loss.. at least it aint gone forever!!
  9. am speaking to keith then... going to double antons rent and have his unit!!!! it fooked up on them rocks we were on but didnt show up till i was home!! (unlike your axle)! got a front double cardan prop on here just need to sort out a cheque for it!! it will be a killer when its done......... hopefully like the 2.3 td5 manual diff locked 2001 arb equipped thing in the end unit!!!
  10. as per signature mate.. 200tdi!! its a late one though its on an L reg got a spare prop here but just wanted to be sure because i have little patience for 14mm bolts you cant get a socket on!!
  11. need help again please chaps.. thought i might as well ask before i get my tool. out and start taking bits off!!! every time i go round a sharpish corner (right or left) under load there is a loud banging/clunking/grinding noise coming from the rear of the car.. it is running a 5" lift at the mo.. is this a common problem? i was thinking maybe diff/halfshaft issues maybe a prop.... give us a clue please guys!! thanks in advance ste.
  12. got loads to do on the car so i might take saturday off work!! there is some funky banging noise coming from the back when i turn corners!! still pissing oil out and overheating too!! i have bought a little quad for max though!
  13. i am sure you had not chopped that much off it last week!! make a 90 pickup rear hoop cage fit it!!
  14. the last time i bought a set there was a wheel courier service on ebay.. standard price for wheels and tyres so long as they were on a pallet.. think about £40.. not sure might be worth a look!!
  15. maunge tut, maunge tut... do you have a link that humans can read.. erm i mean english speaking beings!!!
  16. man.. that is a lot of effort!! did you just double the value of the motor?? mine often fills up with water so i wont load it up with tellys and stuff!!!
  17. i have used a crew cab one before for towing and as my car.. the one i had towed 2 ton fairly well and as a car was comfy and quiet.. it was brand new at the time though so i dont know what they wear like!
  18. looks like fun!! only one main difference if it was mine though... it would be filthy!! mine got covered in cow plop last week and it is still festering on my drive!!
  19. fork that... welding rims is a job for a pro.. heat twists things and an air tight weld is a bloody good one!! dont think in will be buying one of these kits!!
  20. i would say thats about an average price for an average condition car... if you have a little more in your budget you will find one with more history and less miles! if this is about your budget its perfect!!
  21. so its not just me that has done this then!!!!! just put a blob of silicone on a big screw and tightened it in!!
  22. ^^ that was me!! i cant drive past a broken down landrover at the side of the road either!! (there are many)! i always have to stop and lend a hand and have been known to drive home for the parts and tools and go back to mend them!! the landrover community is great!! and it makes the missus laugh if she spots the broken down one first because she knows what is coming!.. even if we are running late for something ourselves!!
  23. i just bought terrafirma shocks from overlanders in liverpool last week!! cheap as chips too!!!
  24. why is it a no-no to run them in the cab?? i see no problem with that! i personally would put it somewhere you can see it when you are operating your winch.. i doubt under the bonnet would be very helpful..
  25. just go down your local bargain booze and pick up some of their cheapest vodka..... it tastes the same so i will assume it works the same!!
