  3. I realise it's late, but can someone send me the location of the site? I'd like to come along and watch in the morning, but can't seem to find a set of coordinates or a postcode for the site. Anyone know? Cheers Mark
  4. cool - I thought that might be the case - the steels fit all years.. Cheers Mark
  5. well, I have the wheels (although it turns out they are 15" rather than 16", so I am slightly less confident) but the car is 60 odd miles away... I'll report back with findings tho....
  6. Does anyone know if there are any issues fitting older (1999-ish) 16" steel wheels onto an newer (06 plate) freelander 1? I know there is a fitment issue fitting older alloys onto newer hubs as they don't clear, however, I'm not sure i the same applies to steels? The 06 plate car currently has 17" alloys fitted, as it did from the factory, but I want to make use of some old wheels lying around whilst we repair one... Cheers Mark
  7. Which set of mounts are you referring to? the very front set in with the light box, or the next set back which attach into the footwell? Cheers Mark
  8. Not had an issue cutting the plastic tbh. been using an air panel saw and it cuts it beautifully, and very accurately.
  9. The x-charge will only switch if the alternator is putting out 12V. It is just a relay - switching based on the output of the alternator. it is not voltage sensitive (at least not the the battery voltage) If your anderson connetor is connected to the aux battery, and your 'jump' isolator is not switched, then plugging the charger into it will only charge the aux battery. Switching your 'jump' isolator effectively connects the two batteries in parallel regardless of the x-charge, therefore plugging your charger in and switching your 'jump' isolator will allow it to charge both batteries - assuming your charger has the capacity... The batteries will balance each other out whilst connected in this way - so will effectively charge at the same rate. hope that helps... Mark
  10. Mick, I am in the process of building one for my truck at the moment - it's taken me ages to work out a layout... You can get a shallow din unit into the lower front slot, although my head unit wouldn't fit - my CB (not DIN) would be fine though. The top front slot does not really have enough clearance behind it to fit a din unit in. The top sloped section fits a din head unit in very nicely - so that's where mine is. With a head unit in the top space, clearance behind the top front space gets very tight. I wanted to use the proper plugs on the back of my carling switches, and in order to get enough clearance I put them in the middle of the front panel - thats as high as they can go. If you use crimps on the back of the switches instead, you can fit them into the top slot, but it's still very tight! I can take some pictures of my progress so far if it's of any interest. Cheers Mark
  11. mmmmm v6 - Go on Mike, you know you want it!
  12. I'm guessing lambda sensor... There are a couple of nice bussed fuse boxes around - you don't mention if you need fuses or just some common connection points for +12V and 0V... have a look at polevolt or Electrical Car Services... hth Mark
  13. I used an x-eng split charge into whatever battery was already in there when I bought the truck for the vehicle battery (a standard 072 I suspect), plus an AGM Hi capacity battery for the aux battery. The 072 is smaller than the AGM one, so sits in the rear position of the battery box - you have to be careful of the battery heights as the seatbox tapers... I am afraid my setup was made from what I had taken off my last truck or had lying around in the workshop, so I won't get into the debates about the best batteries or split charge system to use, I only know what works!
  14. I put mine under the passenger seat along with the vehicle battery - you have to turn the existing battery around through 90 degrees, and find something to a) fill the gap that the single battery sits in and b) reinstate some kind of tie down bracket for the two batteries. There is a kit available from devon : twin battery tray although I just used some scrap aluminium extrusion, and a couple of m8 eye nuts and J bolts going through them. hth Mark
  15. I'm with fridge, although mine's not quite so pretty
  16. Apart from the capping strip between the door and the door top, which is also galvanised...
  17. Which window? Instinct says galvanised, but I'm not sure which one you mean... Mark
  18. Great writeup Henry. The video is very well done too. Shame about the early retirement - are you planning to do any other rallies before next years borders rally? Mark
  19. Twin Wiper motors is series 2, most (not going to say all..) 2a's are single wiper motor. My 68 IIa had deep sills as original, and lights in the centre. '68 was around the time a lot of things changed, so when I rebuilt mine it was impossible to say exactly which version of which parts were being used.... Cheers Mark
  20. Rather than dilute the Land Rover content of the various forums with discussions related to the forum itself - funding, adverts, upgrades, suggestions etc - We have created a new section for this reason: LR4x4 Matters - THE place to discus the forum itself, funding, posting problems, technical issues etc. NOT for vehicle related issues. Just letting you know Mark
  21. James - very much like your proposal! Mark
  22. maybe 'phutt' (from FTT) cos it's only a matter of time....
