  1. Thuis should be a fun day out, If anyone wants to join us just add your name to this thread, Dan
  2. How about a 9am departure form the Bustard on Saturday April the 18th. We should be able to cover a large amount of lanes, Im aiming to get out next week and check my route so can update you about the "scratchiness" but there are quite a few non scratchy lanes on the plain, The plan is mainly the westdown ranges, Tilshead, Chitterne, The german village, Westdown, possibly Berwick st James, We should be able to cover most off the lanes in the area, And I agree with GBMUD Bulford range does have a slightly better range of Lanes, but that can be saved for another day,
  3. How about the 18th, as i cant make the 19th, Also the 18th ties in with the plain newsletter Plain News Letter April 2009 This is looking like an there should be a healthy turnout, as I know of a few other trucks that are interested, I currently have a rough route in my head, and will hopefully be checking it out beforehand, to ensure that the tracks are actually there, driveable and has a selection of views and terrain, Dan
  4. Sounds like a plan, I spent all day out on the plain on march 29th and it was amazing, lots of sun fantastic views and lots of army trucks, and even saw a plane on one of the air strips, Also there's nothing like green laning on the plain, the vast open spaces and the huge network of tracks, most of which dont appear on os maps, make navigating interesting. Im sure a trip or 2 could be arranged especially with easter and bank holiday weekends approaching so we should be able to get a decent turnout, maybe even squeeze in a quick trip to Imber Village Pick a date, and see whose can make it, I will be up for showing you about dates permitting. Dan
  5. Ive just recently removed a knackered aircon from mine, and replaced it with a glovebox, so it is possible, all you need is the aircon unit, and the hoses and aircon radiator and brackets, Also check your bulkhead to make sure you have a blanking plug, so that you can pop it off to let the hoses leave the vehicle But it would be a dash out job, as mine could only be removed by hacksawing off bits of pipe intill in fell out the bootom of the dash, As for wiring, not much from what i remember, 2 or 3 wires, 1 of which is a feed straight from the battery, Also some are engine driven compressors so that complicates thing, Any more questions just ask
  6. Check the viscous fan, Theres a few posts about exactly what to look for as i cant remember at the moment
  7. They do fit nicely behind the front seats, plus you get easy access if you have a 5 door just open rear door and theres your jack, It can cause problems with the rear passenger feet thou Dan
  8. As requested heres a couple of photos, including 1 showing what happened to my rear door when a tree jumped out at me whilst reversing Dan
  9. I'll be there, It looks and sounds like a fun site Dan
  10. Dont forget, your diff nose bearing, My front whines like a pig at anything over a 40mph, To check just wobble the prop where it attaches to the diff, if it sort of wobbles like a slightly failed uj, then that could be it, so long as the uj isnt wobbling
  11. Hi knowledgeable people, Whilst driving my 200tdi disco a heard a hight petched squeal from the front corner and have just discovered that 1 of my wheels bearings is completly shot, But my question is which ones do i order? as all the sites list 2 types Its an early discovery (before JA032850) but the hubs have been rebuilt with the later style cv joints( with drive flanges) hence the confusion over which ones, if it helps the wheel bearings have 50mm nuts on instead of the usual 52mm Any helps is welcome Dan
  12. Have you not tried jacking up each corner and trying to spin the wheel? If it spins you found the problem, If both wheels spin its the diff, Hopefully this way you will only have to take off one hub, Dan
  13. You could just silicone the bulbs in, It works for me, and make sure you silicone the main bulb and the sidelight bulb, Dan
  14. I have a couple of questions for you knowledgeable people, it is as follows: Usually when you turn on the ignition on a 200tdi you get the battery, oil and glow plugs light illuminate, what does it mean of the battey light doesnt illuminate? The vehicle is also not starting but the starter is clicking loudly, the other question is when you turn on the ignition, and wait about 20 seconds a relay dros and the lights get brighter, what is this related with? Any help is welcome
  15. Dont forget, You may need to knock up some sort of hoods for for new spotlights, I had to on mine as they illuminated the dash and bonnet only, and actually made it easier to drive with them off, I might post a picture in a min, all i have to do if take 1 and figure out how to post it Dan
  16. As i have a slight habit of removing wing mirrors whilst off roading, e.g 5 times since april I was wondering if it is possible to fit Defender mirrors onto my disco? Im just wondering as they fold flat against the body or can be removed easier to prevent them being removed by a tree. Dan
  17. You have either lost the spring, or the mechinism is sticky, try a bit of WD on it, or if you have the time remove the catch, and clean it up,
  18. Yep i have this problem as well, Ive ordered a set of racing bonnet pins for fitting this weekend, but as a temporay fix, have a look at the small plate, with the hole in, attached by 2 bolts just just above the centre of the grill, It should all be flat to the panel, with the exception of 2 ridges, The part can be adjusted by losening, the 2 bolts and sliding it about, to acheive a good fit, or failing that just cable tie your bonnet down, a tie in each corner works a treat Dan
  19. So to try and answer your questions, 1, Joining, its bascially whatever you feel happy with doing, but remember you dont have to use your existing airbox, your could swap for anonther type e.g from a disco or range rover, 2, No holes, holes and will let water in and out, out is good but water entering your intake isnt good, 3, No idea, depends what vehicle you have, Hope this helps, and tomoz i will try and post of some pics of my diy snorkel to help you, One last thing, silicone sealant/ pvc cement electrical tape on all joints Dan
  20. Yep thats them, there number is 01980 620009, Also if you are after any spare parts give them a call, there have a large collection of scrappers, and give them a few days and you can get your part
  21. I had Fbb landrover of Salisbury fit mine for a cost of either £200 o or £250, 6 months ago. He based at shrewton on Salisbury Plain so probably slightly too far for you to travel
  22. It is possible to remove just that damged panel, but as it is weld to the rear 3 quarter side panel it is slighlty tricky to re attach. I know this cos i have done the same on on mine and it is only attched by the screws in the near the boot hinges and a screw at the bottom, To break the welds all you need is the goold old big hammer and a chisel/screwdriver Dan
  23. This is a usefull thread, By reading this i have now come to the conclusion that me thermostat is eitehr jammed open or missing, as i can do 20 miles before i even get a reading on the gauge, even then in traffic the reading drops back again. Dan
  24. I have a 200tdi cross member sat spare in Salisbury, Dont know if its any good, but its there want it. Dan
  25. I will be watching your truck with interest, If they are as good as they seem to be guess what im going to ask Santa for. Dan
