  1. It could be the wrong relay, theres a different relay depending on how many bulbs there is to flash. Its depends on what rear light and bumper set up are fitted
  2. Winch/ lockers? or being sensible look on the x-eng site theys have lots of landrover products that make nice usefull gifts
  3. 10 to 15kg? cos they slightly heavy, but light enough to be a one person lift
  4. Make sure you leave the safety catch on . It means that in the unlikely event of the pins failing there is a back up. I have pins fitted to my disco after suffering exactly the samed problems.
  5. To answer your waterpump question: They are all designed like that. When the internal seal fails the water leaks out so that you know the seal/waterpump has failed. It confused me when It happened to me, so I know where your coming from. It may be worthwhile searching the forum for britpart and britpart water pumps as its generally considered that the best thing about britpart is the nice colour of the box
  6. It can help if ypu put you steering onto full lock, its an easy way of creating pressure, as good old knowledgeable LES says.
  7. Stay away from the cheap £5 designs, i had one that lasted 1 month, But it was fitted to the front grill of my disco, right next to the winch,
  8. According to the council website its not currently closed : Rights of way closures wiltshire But the part from Harnham to the racecourse is overgrown and very rutted in places, after that its a nice byway with fantastic views towards the western end. Dan
  9. Do it, the way to think of it is the tree sliders are basically a heavy duty step. Since I fitted them to my D1 I havent regretted it. An added bonus is if someone opens their car door and hits you in a supermarket carpark, chances are they will hit the tree slider first, so they protect your paintwork. The only very small downside is they do get scratched, so if you want to keep the vehicle looking mint, you may have to paint them once a year
  10. The stalk on the steering wheel column does burn out, cos the 200tdi has no relays in the lighting circuit resulting in a approx 1v or more volt drop at the bulbs. You can fit a set of relays quite easily and it does make a difference.
  11. Do it you wont regret it, its also worth removing the inlet manifold, and intercooler and flushing out the sticky gunky black marmite mess you will find inside. and you can even get the genuine blanking plate and gasket from the main dealers for very little. The part numbers are listed somewhere on this forum
  12. Its is a very good idea to flush out the intercooler, all the air intake pipes and remove the egr if you havent already done so, and a decat pipe as well
  13. Im not too fussed about how they work, I just have this urge to buy them . . . What colours do they come in? Any chance of a custom colour solely for this forum?
  14. My advice is take lots of photos and have a notebook handy to record details. Also make sure you test ithe fan before you but it back together
  15. It sounds like 2 unrelated problems, The rev counter is fed straight off the alternator, so check that or it could be an earth. The smoke is probably because the fuel pump has been tweaked, plus all diesels smoke under load
  16. Just to wind you you up it isnt a dash out job to remove the air con compresser, Its possible cos I've done it. And for you clutch return spring do u mean the spring that sits between the pedal and bulkhead/pedal box? It should be easy to get one from a scrapper or even main dealer
  17. Hi All I currently in the process of changing a haeadgasket on my 300 tdi, and the machine shop have just called to say the cylinder head is warped by 10 thou, and that they will have to skim it by 12 thou to make it flat. Is this good or bad or what? Im not an expert on head skimming at all, and so wanted to double check before they go ahead and do anything. Or will it be a case of replacement head time? The more advice the better
  18. It not a major issue at all, As diesels are quite happy without a viscous fan. Its a simple thing to do and you gain about 1 mpg. It also makes the engine bay a lot neater and easier to work on
  19. They will probably fit, without any major problems, theres only one way to find out. . . But a 200tdi does have a fair bit of slack adjustment as I was running a v8 efi alternator belt on my 200tdi disco , for a bit. It worked but the alternater was at the end of its travel
  20. Its a slight thread hijack, but whats the best way to remove the marmite? My inlet manifold has a lovley coating of it, which can do with removing Dan
  21. Ad as ann added bonus, if you remove the fans from behind the passenger side dash panel. A standard glovebox will drop straight in. My disco came with the aircon removed and its just makes it that bit easy to work the engine bay. Also dont forget to plate up the whole on the bulkhead. and one final thing, the aircon fans rremoval are technically a dash out job, but with a hammer and a junior hacksaw you can remove them from the dash without damaging the dash. Dan
  22. To determine your alternator output its quite simple, There should be a label on it stating the output and make
  23. I will be there, I haver also acquired one of them winchy things, so hopefully wont need to be recovered by other people Dan
  24. Hi agree with niamh, as the stub axle and hub are now scrap, just carefully gax axe of grind them off, and then fit a replacement either new of second hand. What year is the vehicle? and what are the cvs? Post it up and the clever forum people will advise what parts you need, as there 2 different types of cv joint fitted to discoverys
  25. Or you could use the gigglepin trailing arms which extend the wheelbase to sometging very close to 100" clicky Note i have no conection with gigglepin at all,
