Les Henson
http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio..._20060207.shtml It seems from this that although trading standards have been involved, the guy still continues to trade. You would think that there would be a way to stop someone altogether. The poor guy on LRUK seems to be have been badly ripped-off by these people. http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=78403 Les. LandyManLuke
The two places aren't one and the same, the LR guy was ripped off by Rivermead EngineeringBrent road Southall Sounds like a ****e garage, all the same!
GBMUD
heathrow engine centre when I worked I was almost done by them. Walked away before parting with money... I had just been done by a mob in Lewisham who sold me a second hand, jetwashed "reconditiond" engine. I was about 18/19 then, you live and learn I guess. Shame these cowboys get away with it. The word "reconditioned" has no meaning in UK law. The engine could be jetwashed, described as reconditioned and still be legally sold. Now, if I remember right, they use to advertise in the Exchange & Mart etc, (early 80.s maybe) and they got away with their engines by advertising them a "replacement exchange engines" no mention of "recondition" or the like !!! Went there once , many moons ago, if you had to park round the back, all the engine "work" was being done with a paint brush

Chris Chris, That'll be 'King of Lee' by the railway bridge in Lewisham? Those cheating pikeys had adverts in Exchange & Mart under almost every make of car and described themselves as the 'specialists' for second hand parts and reconditioned engines and gearboxes for that make. A woman I worked with's husband got ripped-off by them for a 'recon' Dolomite Sprint engine. Another bunch of crooked reconditioners just down the road at the bottom of Southend Lane by Bell Green in Catford were 'Redjep's Garage', they had my mate over with a 'recon' 3 litre V6 Zodiac engine which was more con than recon. That Heathrow Engine Centre were notorious con-men. A bloke I worked with got screwed by them over a Mercedes engine. Learning from other peoples mistakes, I've always reconditioned engines myself, using a reputable local machine shop for the reboring, crank grind, etc... Paul. Same area back in 79 or 80 that I had my V8 CONditioned for my Rover 3500S (P6). I marked the heads and my heads didn't come back with the block but came back with some SD1 heads. I couldn't get the engine to run because instead of short reach plugs it needed long reach and the oil pump gave a feeble 5psi ever after. So I guess I was given a jet washed SD1, bast**ds. Oddly enough, most of the to-ing and fro-ing with engines in one state or another was done in a friends Dolomite, a 1300 though.
