sierrafery
Hi, can be a small leak which occurs only with hot engine and evaporates instantly or the worst scenario(which happened to me) to be a crack in the head or block and the coolant ends up in the combustion... on mine was a crack in the first inlet port 😖 ...if it's a small evaporating leak you'll find it only by using something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UV-Dye-Torch-Kit-Leak-Detection-Dye-Coolant-Cooling-Antifreeze-System-RLD2-/230723938073 there is a best scenario too which means you need a new tank cap so better rule that out first and be aware that the cap must be tightened to maximum allowed Edited November 17, 2018 by sierrafery
Anderzander
In addition to the above - an early check is to look for dry pink residue from evaporated coolant - look around the ends of the hoses and in the drivers side engine mount, that sits under the fuel cooler. Blanco
Fuel cooler is a prime culprit, hard to see and nearly always hides the traces by being warmed up.

Not on 2003+ modells which have the square fuel cooler and this one doesnt have o-rings and never leaks : https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/127185/1209/fuel_cooler_assy_td5_def_dis11_3a_
Blanco
Good to know!, it was a pain to put new seals in the round one. Still trying to be helpful I also had trouble at the head end of the top hose, the alloy got corroded and made it weep.
BogMonster
End tanks on the radiators can weep coolant, my V8 had this issue, new radiator fixed it. Plastic end tanks and alloy fins, what could possibly go wrong. Oh, that.
reb78
Theres a core plug behind the exhaust manifold. Hard to see but they often leak there. See if you can see signs of coolant. There wont be an easily visible leak as it evaporates off.
