FridgeFreezer
Found on tinternet... He was warned... And went anyway... can you guess what comes next? Quote NIXON, Nev. (KOLO) You generally hear about people making the trip to the Black Rock Desert in the summer for Burning Man, but one man found out the hard way about what can happen when you drive out there this time of the year. “They set out a rescue mission late last night to extract the driver, and we are planning another for the vehicle,” said Wesley Wilson who runs the Nevada 4x4 rescue Facebook page. A man from Canada named George Sukhanov got his Toyota stuck in wet playa mud in Pershing County. The sheriff’s office there says he told them he initially did not want to be rescued, but he eventually realized rescue was necessary, when he took to Facebook. “I think he had been out there for at least a day or two,” said Wilson. “He found our page and it went viral.” It wasn’t just Nevada 4x4 rescue, but also 775 Offroad & Recovery who helped in the rescue – finding him around 1:30 a.m. Ultimately, the conditions were so bad they had to just get him out. His car will have to wait. “You might as well have just been pulling another car on an ice rink, anytime you would pull him it would pull the recovery car towards the car that was stuck,” said Joseph Pickett, a hotel manager who helps people get out of situations like this in his spare time. The situation resulting in the BLM issuing a warning, saying you can be ticketed for this because it’s a conservation area. “Heed those signs,” said Heather O’Hanlon of the BLM’s Winnemucca office. “If there are wet conditions out there, don’t go out there you can get stuck.” [https://www.kolotv.com/content/news/Man-rescued-after-getting-car-stuck-in-mud-at-Black-Rock-Desert--566449431.html] Reddit are following developments but there's mention of a Faceache group for those that way inclined.

Gazzar
Ignoring good advice, bit silly. But I've often done silly things. So I find it hard to criticise him, as I might have done something similar.
Anderzander
I wonder if you’d get GLASS doing that kind of recovery cover?
Cynic-al
I think that's what we often dont realise as people in the england. I would happily do that sort of thing at a play site knowing that a car will be past every few minutes, if not you can walk back to reception. There isn't the ability to go much off track in this country as everywhere is very restricted and most places have a phone signal. Over there you can drive for miles in any direction and not see anyone, or have phone signal. It's a completely different mindset to offroading.
