pugwash
piccies below of new ali rad. purchased from Summit racing for the princely sum of £105 + VAT and shipping. It's designed to cool a chevy 5.7 V8 in a race application and is guaranteed to cope with a 20% increase in cooling needs over a stock chevy rad. dual core, ali and it fits perfectly into the space vacated by a range rover rad. if it weighs more than 6lb i'd be surprised! The fan and shroud were as expensive as the radiator, but then the fan delivers 4500cfm and seals to the exact size of the rad- you also get a free rad controller- not that i'll need it with one of Si's specials. also included piccie of header tank (which was a wee bit frivolous on my part) although it will help with packaging in the engine bay! look at the welding on this jobbie:

pugwash
well it's a start at least i figured liquid cooling was better than vapour cooling

simonr
That looks rather good - and particularly good value! The inlet & outlet ports look a bit on the small side - or is the rad H-U-G-E? I like the filler cap / header - mucho sensible. Do they do different sizes? In particular, one to suit a 1.6 engine? Si
pugwash
It was very good value i thought- very very well made and much cheaper then getting a standard rangie rad re-cored. rad is pretty large- inlet and outlets are 1 3/4" which is what comes as standard on chevy V8s. they do all sorts of sizes, from big enough to cool a race application 8.0l down to small inline 4s. You shoudl be able to find a tiny little ali rad on there somewhere- and a fan to cool it. filler/header arrangement is very efficient- much smaller than the range rover setup! Guest WALFY
Looks good Jim, just need to be fitted to the vapor truck now Or is it a container to keep his vapour build in ;) . On a serious note it's very nice. Shame it's not worth buying 1 for my 90. To much bling will ruin the looks
nas90
Summit Racing look to be an American company, did you buy in UK or import from the States? Do you have a link to the radiators? Dave

Guest WALFY
I am also wondering this as i'd like a nice new rad for the D-Lander Summit are a Yank company. If you go on their website you can order a free catalogue. Takes a couple of weeks for it to get to you. I used to get it back along. They do all sort of stuff. Unlimited tuning bolt on bits for BIG yank V8s, bling stuff for most yanks stuff and exhauast in sections so you can buld you're own. Their well worth a look if you are after something special for your truck. There is no specific LR products in the catalogue. So you'll have to measure carefully what you want. http://www.summitracing.com/
pugwash
pretty much what walfy says they have quite the largest range of just about everything i have ever seen- the performance parts are endless! with the exchange rate at the moment it is extrememly good value. They are happy to ship direct to the UK (although i've never had to use that service). The easiest way of ordering is to search the website- either by part number or by browsing (the search facility doesn't work very well with descriptions of parts ime), get a list of parts you need, then phone them and make a payment. their parts list is exhaustive, you can buy a 572cid long block or a 38.5x15.16 set of boggers- they even do winches! prices are very very good (especially compared to the UK), you can sometimes find the parts cheaper on other US sites, but the one stop shop thing really makes summit worthwhile. pugwash
rog, that link wasn't the actual rad i bought- it's just the smallest rad that summit do for Si to have a look at . the actual rad i bought was a bit more expensive than i thought- more like £200 mainly because it has an oil cooler and a special steam line which is specific to chevy LS1 engines. the measurements show in the summit links are accurate for the whole rad- you just look for a rad that will fit the space perfectly- one that would work very well with range rovers is here: Ali rad it's 30" wide (exactly the same width of a rangie rad) and around 1" lower at 19" high. It's designed to cool small block chevies under race applications so should have no probs with a rover v8 even at very low speeds. Price is just $159 (or £80) and you can get a shrouded dual fan setup for not too much money which will totally seal to that size rad. Wouldn't have thought that you would have any more cooling probs with this kit installed.

pugwash
yeah it's a big block though so it's going to weigh an absolute ton- more even than a tdi i woudl haev thought. It's the ali LSx engines whic are well worth it- you can get them ored and stroked to well over 7litres and they weigh about 5kg more than a rover v8. That would make one hell of a vehicle (if you had the money for the engine)
