BogMonster Posted October 17, 2007 Share Posted October 17, 2007 I just dumped mine in a bucket full of warm water overnight (no soap) and then gave it a woosh around and a rinse off in some more clean water the following day. Seemed to work well enough, it doesn't look "new" but clean enough. The rope is made from thousand of tiny strands and unlike a normal rope, plasma and the like require pressure and friction to hold them together, Thus if you use soap it acts as a lubricant and the rope will lose a massive amount of its strength as it's frictional ability is lost. Jim, that makes sense especially with most of the modern washing powders as they tend to leave a softening residue behind. I guess a little washing up liquid's fine as long as you rinse it out.
