Mark
There are a couple of rear winch installs detailed on here, so it is worth doing a search and seeing what you can find.

DiscoStu
Is that marked DR 4x4 by any chance? I know Jeff reasonably well and he told me someone had made the bumper up for him almost as a prototype, I had a good look at it and loved it. I've googled DR 4x4 about a million times but never found anything, is that you? Are you in the same area as WinchSolutions? Stu.
Mark
I suspect you will find it is GD4x4 that is cur into it - as in GoldDigger 4x4, which is indeed Carl. Certainly my front one has GD4x4 in, and I am very pleased with it!
DiscoStu
Oops, probably right. No wonder I couldnt google it eh?

BogMonster
Sadly I understand Golddigger is now defunct. Carl Hurst is still a member on here, so drop him a PM - he might be able to help.

Briandisco
Anyone tried a tow bar mounted winch? Any good? Brian
theoptimist
is it possible to mount it underneath the boot, and further back into the chassis, so as you don't loss any clearance? cheers seb
theoptimist
does this bumper have much effect on departure angle? cheers seb
finnarne
From what I understad after mailing a bit with Carl, you don't loose much angle, not over a normal disco where you have a towbar underneath. but there is some modification needed that is not straight forward. It's of course possible to make a 2x2" hitch receiver (or what do you call it), and use that one, but then 1. it has a huge effect on the departure angle if mounted 2. Do you really have it there when you need it ? Have a look at Extreme4x4.co.uk I myself have a tankguard/detachable towbar from southdown, which Im not sure is still in business I was planning on making myself a detachable winchmount for that one, until I saw the one Carl made. Now I'm back to the drawing board/thinking cage again.. // faj
finnarne
Mounting the winch under the boot, will conflict with the fuel tank. not sure if there are fuel tanks that allow mounting of a winch back there.
finnarne
Found one on ebay now
Boydie
Carl, it looks as if its a modified heavy duty all steel bumper, do you have a drawing or sketch of the mods done to it to take the winch?
Mark
Seb, you will find that there is a fuel tank in the way... Mark
