The link from mike4444244 - 1/2 way down the page:

Note 3:

An adult harness belt comprising a lap belt and shoulder straps bearing a British standard marking is an acceptable alternative to any of the seat belt types listed.

I read it as an acceptabe alternative to anything, lap belts, fixed diagonals with no lap belt, standard 3-point inertia reels, etc.

Well i'm sure everyones aware that passing an MOT with them fitted doesnt make them road legal.

I've heard it said numerous times over the years that only e-marked harnesses with the standard single safety buckle are road legal. Its related to emergency services being able to release them quickly and simply in accidents etc.

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/92925-road-legal-harnesses-2.html

That contains a quote from the law regarding the belts, and as i suspected, it basically says it needs to have a press release colored red to be road legal.

Meaning twisty aircraft buckles are NOT road legal, irrespective of whether they can pass an MOT
