Les Henson
This is the dizzy out of a 3.5 v8 carb engine in a 110. The weights came off the springs and then cut through the sides of the dizzy - cutting it clean in half. Never heard of this happening before, and a new one is £310, so a rather big OUCH! Les. LR90
a new one is £310, so a rather big OUCH! Cripes! Makes a replacement fuel pump seem a lot better value for money.
Steve King
Bit of Duck Tape and it'll be fine (or maybe not!!) Seriously though I reckon a trip to the breaker's is in order. You may need to obtain a couple of dizzies to cobble together (one with a good shaft, one with the correct weights, eye of toad etc!) but it is possible and I have done such a rebuild myself for a non LR vehicle. I would seriously resent paying £310 for a dizzy!

jules
go to real steal and by a mallory it is about 200 squids I know three people that had Mallory and had nothing but aggro setting it up. fit the factory electronic set up cheaper and 1000 times more reliable and that's say something. Mallory = trouble Lumminiton = trouble And the Racing Boys don't run them as everyone that has them will tell you only track and drag not off road What the car was designed to run with work for X hundred thousand Lend Rovers so far or talk to fridge and go distributorless ignition for even less money and that system has no moving parts how little is there to go wrong with that.
