trogers
Hi all Had a coming together with a rather low multi story car park ( three floors ok 4th floor 9inches lower ) Result completely knackered roof including alpines. Has anyone out there ever replaced the rear roof section or knows of a roof panel manufacturer. A real bummer as disco is a goodun, too good to scrap. Thanks all. Great forum, used many times for top dollar infoe.
disco_al
tbh a new roof would be major ££££'s - better off buying a scrapper and using that (get a non sunroof one too ) roof is removable according to rave. check the height signs, you may be able to claim of the local authority if they are incorrect or missing
western
your rear passengers won't have much headroom if you fit a flat roof, if you can find one.

teabag
The only fat roof to fit is one from a RRC they are bolted but as stated you won't have the passenger head room, disco's roofs are welded.
pw8757
So sorry to hear this......I've been close on many occasions and am probably not alone in saying that. Obviously it's going to be a major piece of work - not least because the roof represents so much of the structural integrity of the vehicle. There is a risk that if the job is not done properly, it will end up like a "cut and shut" that you read so much about. Given you will be insured and assuming that the vehicle's age means it's a write off, you may be better taking the insurance money, (if fully comp) buying back the damaged vehicle (at scrap value) and using the difference to get another vehicle with a sound roof, transferring over parts as required. I also agree that if the car park wasn't properly signed where the roof changed heights, you may have a case against the landowner/operator. It is particularly relevant if they have acknowledged the risk of damage to high vehicles by signing the entrance, yet not shown where the height changes. barmiebrumie
new roof skin is about £550 + vat (non sunroof) & about 40hrs labour inc painting, done one a long time ago on a 200 unsure if yours is a 200 or 300 as front screen is bonded in the 300's so a bit more exspense , bodyshop price you would be looking at £3k, can you load any photos ?
