Guest
I picked this up from eBay the other day, I offered it up today but can't seem to get it to fit, anyone got one knows how it goes? Jason.
jbs
Jason, Did'nt someone else have problems with this type of tank with them not being able to get any info from safari equip? http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=53383 John
Guest
John, same issue couldn't get through to Safari Equip and it is not as obvious as it seems, the tank is not the in wing/in line tank but is an auxiliary tank that is meant to sit under the LHS you then transfer the Diesel via a pump (included) it's basically a big Jerry can!! It's just for the life of me I can't see how it will fit and am now not sure it is the correct tank for my TD5 or even that it's for the LHS!! so was looking to see if anyone could help. jbs
Did'nt even know someone had "invented" something like that, I'm sure someone will come up with a solution to your problem Sorry I can't be any help on this John
CwazyWabbit
Any better pictures of the tank than the ebay ones? Maybe we can work it out? Also a picture of where it is alleged to fit would probably be handy.....
Orgasmic Farmer
follow the ebay link to see a pic of it supposedly fitted looks like it bolts up to the rock sliders perhaps?
Guest
Tried that Mark it bares no resemblance to the posted photo so I think it may be a different tank or my 110 is different photo is a generic one so not sure how it will fit? I will take some photos when/if it warms up a bit!!
CwazyWabbit
......I will take some photos when/if it warms up a bit!! I look forward to seeing the photos in a month or two
HoSS
Do you have a 110 CSW or van type? IIRC the floor is different in the CSW, having a lower bit for the rear passengers feet.
Guest
CSW but the floor looks pretty flat however the out riggers could be in different places, I will try and take some photos later when I get home.
Orgasmic Farmer
Could be the CSW cross member is the problem, it sits considerably lower than any part of the hard top. If you get fed up trying I don't mind doing a deal with you and will fit it to my rebuild while it is all in bits!
Guest
OK so I have braved the cold and taken some photos, the tank is the correct orientation i.e. the port in tank 3 photo should be at the bottom for fuel pick up, I also believe that looking at the tank it should be placed with the filler at the back and the slider plate at the front. I had a play with it again but it just won't go between the two outriggers, once I got inside I had a thought that it may fit the other side. Oh and before anyone says, it's not the side step bracket that is preventing it, If it were I would just remove the steps as plan to get some tree sliders at some point in the future. I will have a look again in a bit but fear it may because it's not for a CSW but for a 110 so there may be a fuel tank available Mark!! and I will be in South Wales in a couple of weeks time!! It would however be a shame as it would have also been a great pick up tank for my new Eberspacher. Jason.
JeffR
If indeed you can't fit it, look on the bright side, the way fuel prices are rising you wouldn't be able to afford to fill it....
Guest
Unfortunately Jeff, that was part of the plan, this years summer trip is going to be to Pyrenees/Costa Brava, I have some great new routes to try out. The plan involved driving through Andorra on the way down and brimming all of the tanks!! for the trip and then doing the same on the return, clearly also picking up the duty free beer for the trip also!! at 93c/L x 181 litres (80L main, 45L Wing, 56L New tank) compared to 1e35c/L saves me 76Euros each way or 152 Euros off my holiday costs. or that was the plan. Orgasmic Farmer
Comparing the tank you have to the photo of it fitted to the rolling chassis with yellow sliders there is no way they are the same product. I reckon it isn't even the right one for a 110. The advert doesn't say it is for a 110 anywhere and the link, although to the 110 tank on SE website, could be a red herring. Wonder if J90MUD has pulled a fast one to get rid of something he bought without checking and has tried to shift it on. If you give me the exact measurement Jason I will go and have a measure on my bare rolling chassis and we will soon see if it is physically possible to get in onto a 110. Guest
Cheers Mark, I will measure it tomorrow, the chap I got it from was a genuine guy, you have possibly even met him he is on here and Innovate and think trials. He brought it for his 110 but never fitted it and now drives a 90. I did buy it with the risk of it not fitting and thought I can always 'make it fit' but before I went to that extreme I thought I would see if anyone had one fitted to their truck so had an actual photo. I have the feeling the photo was a stock image so wasn't going to draw to much from that it is not that far just won't quite fit, I will take some photos of it offered up but suspect it may be a TD5 CSW thing....... However saying all that it could just be that it is a RHS tank and not the LHS tank (live in hope) it is a really well made bit of kit and would be a real shame if I can't get it to fit. Jason. Orgasmic Farmer
I thought it was Darren from the Ebay name. Yes I know him well enough. Well lets hope it makes sense in the morning.
Guest
OK I have discovered two things today, the ground is very cold, and it defiantly will NOT fit I think the issue is the CSW Cross member out rigger, so maybe mark has a new tank on the way!!! I would like to identify what the tank is from though so any help would be appreciated, I an not sure if it is RHS or LHS all I really know is that the way it is photographed is the correct vertical alignment i.e. filler at top drain at bottom and that the filler should be at the back of the Landy..... Guest
http://www.devon4x4....emart&Itemid=14 Looking around the web I found this...... looking at the image maybe it could be from a 90!!! Just checked the Front Runner site and am now almost convinced that the tank is for a 90 as it again looks very similar to the 90 tank....... Surely devon are having a laugh with the prices of those tanks!!? You've got a bargain there if it is one of those (even if you cant use it!) You've got a bargain there if it is one of those (even if you cant use it!) They range between £450 and £600 plus hence the reason I took the risk and brought it!!! maybe I haven't got a bargain but if Mark confirms what I think with measurements then someone on here with a 90 will get a bargain!!! reb78
I'm going to get one custom made for SVO for my 110 CSW. There is a company in Kent that did a stainless exhaust for me, and they can fabricate most other stuff (can dig out the details for you if you want). I've put it off because of the cost of SVO at the moment though.
Dave W
If it turns out to be a 90 one I may be interested in it I'd go outside and measure up the 90 now but I'm a wimp and don't want to lay in the snow !
Guest
OK so I am getting somewhere, I have had some great communications with Tom at Safari Equipment, who despite what others have said I found couldn't be more helpful. If anyone wants to contact him their mail address is WVA.holdings.ltd@googlemail.com The tank is not a Safari Equipment tank, and was not made by them their 110 tank looks like the photo attached and sits over the outrigger, what have SE been able to tell me: The tank was a specialist made item as most tanks on the market only have one port and not the multiple ports available on this tank The tank may fit a 90 but it is more likely that it will fit a Discovery 1 or 2. The hole on the top is for a fuel gauge which is apparently an expensive upgrade although the gauge is not that much money So the tank is now up for sale, but I would advise you come and see if it fits first!!
