western Posted August 1, 2012 Share Posted August 1, 2012 my workshop manual info shows this front disc non vented 298mm diamater & 24mm thick rear disc 298mm diameter & 14.1mm thick. so no fronts won't fit the rear calipers.& rears will be to thin for the front calipers. Mike RAVE doesn't specify if the 24mm is vented or solid front disc, I suspect 24mm is for vented disc & the solid front version is 14.1mm as for rear disc. yes front solid disc can be used in a rear drum to disc conversion but with the correct rear calipers. In theory a 300Tdi 110 should have had vented front discs as standard, but yours may have been in the crossover period between 200Tdi and 300Tdi. I've seen a thread showing how to convert the rear drums to disc - but has anyone actually done it and, if so, how much difference does it make? western Posted August 3, 2012 Share Posted August 3, 2012 a ex member diesel jim converted a rear axle to disc, I'm collecting the parts to cobvert my rear Salisbury to disc, reasons are self adjusting, easier to replace pads, better braking.
