Souster
Just been messing under the centre seat. Found 2 wires with a spade terminal and 1 with a bullet connector. Anyone know what these are for? http://s905.photobucket.com/user/souster4/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/A677FA1A-7C68-40D1-BE70-10A28CDBF303.jpg.html
Souster
Im sure one was a bullet connector. But after looking at the picture im not sure
Landy-Novice
handbrake, diff lock, reverse?
discomikey
what vehicle? my guess would be reverse light switch and diff lock switch? maybe an oil temp switch for the gearbox although unless its an auto i highly doubt that.
discomikey
what model and age and what engine/gearbox configuration? if you could let us know what the wire trace colours are then that would go a long way to finding what they are
Souster
Sorry. Its a 96 defender 300tdi truck cab. I dont think its the difflock switch, as that works fine. I havent got a hand brake light, so its a possibility
western
clean the wires & post up the colour coding of each wire, then we can tell you what they are for more accurately.
oneandtwo
They are for the Egr ecu which has been removed
Souster
I'll have a look at the wire colours tonight then fellas. I didnt think the older models had Egr, thats why i wasnt sure Cheers
Disco-Ron
The egr module has a multi plug, not individual wires..... See if any are live with engine running, if not, connect to earth and see what happens, dash lights etc....
CwazyWabbit
It's not the reverse light as that's the 2 pin multi plug hidden in the dirt on top of the LT230.
CwazyWabbit
I think two of them are for a gearbox oil temperature switch, connectors C219 and C269
Souster
It's not the reverse light as that's the 2 pin multi plug hidden in the dirt on top of the LT230. Is that the connector to the left of my thumb is the picture? Does that mean i have all the connections for the handbrake light? I'll have a look at the wire colours when i get back tonight. Cheers
CwazyWabbit
Yep, the big connector, it's black if you wipe the mud off.
Souster
Bit of an update fellas, found the wire colours. One of the wires is grey with red tracer with a female spade terminal One is black with a female spade terminal The other is white with yellow tracer with a female bullet connector. All of which seem to come from similar location to the multi plug connector to the left of my thumb in the picture. Any ideas?
Souster
Also, the black and grey/red tracer are wrapped in the same tape if that helps
CwazyWabbit
C219 is grey with red tracer according to the diagrams, doesn't list colours for c269 unfortunately. C219 is definitely gearbox oil temp switch
CwazyWabbit
White with a yellow tracer should have a spade connector for the hand brake, connector number C091 on the circuit diags.
Souster
Thankyou mate. Just noticed on the diagram and westerns hand brake cable write up that the spade and bullet connector wire is missing. On further inspection, i have a hand brake switch also, the spade terminal has just broken off. Thanks for clearing things up
