stobbie
Hi, I've repaired a badly crash damaged Defender. I have replaced the chassis and front axle and bodyparts but didn't do any work at the engine because I couldn't see andy damaged parts. Today we've tried to start the engine for the fist time and it fired straight up (after standing for 6 months) but died after 20 seconds or so. Now the engine will cranck but does not fire. SDD doesn't show any DTC's. Does anyone hae an idea what could cause this?
Tanuki
Has the impact-sensing thing [which shuts off the fuel-pump in the event of a crash] been reset?
stobbie
No, I don't think a puma has an inertia switch? Should I hear the fuel pump in the tank run when I turn on the ignition? I hear nothing.. I'm not used to Puma's..
CwazyWabbit
The workshop manual says model year 12 yas an intertia switch, which year is this one? EDIT: Although the inertia switch should raise a DTC
CwazyWabbit
MY07 manual mentions an 'Inertia Fuel cut off Switch' so it looks like there is an inertia switch on both versions of the Puma
Happyoldgit
Check the relays under the drivers seat and make sure they are fully seated and that there is no corrosion evident on the connections and sockets. Loose relays are a fairly common problem in vehicles that only get day to day use let alone one that has been involved in a shunt and then sat around for a bit. dailysleaze
I've never seen a chassis bent like that. What did it hit and how fast?
