greenstream
I do belive that this has been done before and that there us a writedown on it. But I can't seem to find it. I have a '96 110" vab with a leaking metal fueltank and would like to go for a plastic fueltank. Any ideas ? Morten
mickeyw
Some models of RRC use the same metal tank as the 110. I believe when the RRC went to plastic tank coincided with the arrival of the high-level fuel filler. I don't know for sure, but I would expect this may mean the filler neck is positioned differently on the tank. The plastic tank also uses a different fuel pump/level sender assembly. I daresay with the right motivation, it could be made to fit
Bowie69
Yep that is correct, I'm not sure the tank inlet position is different, as there is a large rubber elbow joining the tank inlet, just above the chassis rail...? IIRC they are slightly deeper than the metal RRC ones.
elbekko
We swapped the metal tank in an RRC to a plastic one a few months ago, it did involve rewelding the chassis mounts, as the plastic tank is slightly bigger in just about every dimension. miketomcat
I looked at fitting a disco plastic tank in a 110 but decided it wouldn't fit due to part of the tank going over the top of the chassis rail on the disco. Mike
greenstream
Think I might have remenbered wrong. Come to think of it I think it was going from metal to plastic but both for the 110" ?
MECCANO
As mike says, If the plastic tank spills over the rails like the disco, the rear tub supports that go over the filler neck look like they will be in the way on a 110.
Ed Poore
I've got a surplus to requirements 300Tdi 110 (metal) tank in the shed... Brand new and never fitted, not in the box but still in wrapping.
