=jon=
Hi, I've looked in the various guides for dropping the transfer box on a 110, and most of them recommend removing the drivers floor panel. Is it possible to remove it without touching the floor? I've got LPG tanks secured to the floor panel and an x-eng pendal lock so would rather avoid it if possible!! Any advice / pointers / suggestions based on past experience much appreciated! Thanks Jon
dangerous doug
I did mine by opening the access panel under the middle seat and removing the transmission tunnel. Crane through the passenger door with the nose about 2 inches from the roof and plenty of sling to drop it
Anderzander
Are you sure the guides haven't been for removing the gearbox, rather than the transfer box ? Les's guide here in the tech archive, for fitting a new transfer box, only describes lifting the access hatch under the centre seat to get to the linkages ...... =jon=
Thanks for the answers - makes life easier... I was looking at some of the guides online, didn't spot the one on here!
=jon=
Just found the guide: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=14601 From inside the vehicle, remove the drivers seat cushion, drivers floor panel, transmission tunnel cover, and centre seat/cubby box panel. One of the pics shows the floor panel removed, but doesn't look like it allows you to get to much... If I can get away without it that'd be much better!! Anderzander
Bizarre ! I've read that 2 or 3 time recently and never picked that up.
western
when I replaced my transfer box a few years ago, the gearbox tunnel, drivers floor plate & centre seatbox panels gave me all the access from top side I needed.
Les Henson
I removed the floor plate in order to disconnect the linkages. If you can do that without removing it, then fine. Fiddly though I would imagine. Les
Challo
I used Les's guide to change my transfer box. Worked a treat. Thanks Les.
