mikec
Hi people I've been out of the landy scene for a while so I've become out of touch with prices etc, wondering what sort of prices non mot lightweights are going for at the minute? Cheers mike
Snagger
Anywhere between £500 and £2000, from what I have seen in the last week.
mikec
Saw this in an advert the other day while lookin at others for sale is that right does anyone know 144 left??
Snagger
Sounds unlikely to me - I had one "accidentally" with all the 24V kit still running well, bought because it was the first presentable Lightweight we found at a sensible price that wasn't in need of rebuild. Bowie69
Quite a few were 24V actually, and being radio trucks were probably treated slightly better... I sold mine a year ago or so, for ~£2500, new MOT, presentable with no serious rot, but will on original chassis.
HoSS
No those numbers must be way off. The production totals according to the MLW club is 18,000 produced total.
neil110
There is a website which details how many of each vehicle is still on the road. There is a date before which there are no records but I cannot remember the name of it. I used it once to find out that there are 136 V8 One_Ten station wagons still on the road
Bowie69
https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/ Problem with lightweights is what they ended up getting registered as....
neil110
The way to find out would be to go to www.howmanyleft.co.uk
Snagger
No, Neil, the point was that many Lightweights will be registered as SII or SIII SWB, 88 or some other identifier, but not as a Land Rover 1/2 Ton and not as "Lightweight", which is an enthusiast term and was never an official or even technically appropriate name, so that site will drastically underestimate the number of them still around.
steve b
Weren't they known officially as Airportable 1/2 ton ? They do seem to be going up in value much like all Land Rovers , particularly Series cheers Steveb
Bowie69
Yeah they are, but not reliably registered as such. I forget what mine was registered as, though pretty certain it didn't contain lightweight.
neil110
Oh yes they are definitely going up in price. A local seller tried asking £15,000 for an early 2a on ebay recently. Saying that it had been restored. Shame it had the wrong chassis, seats, gearstick, mirrors and front bumper/bumperettes
