miketomcat
Spill pipes? When ours start smelling it's usually a split or perished Spill hose. Mike
mcc1979ian
You mean the return hose to the tank?
Snagger
The spill pipes are the black braided hoses between the injectors and are very prone to splitting. You cab buy rolls of the hose from Halfords far cheaper than LR - LR will sell the whole assembly for a small fortune but all you need is the 4mm fuel hose.
miketomcat
The halfords stuff only seams to last a year or so. Mike
Bowie69
Surely you must be able to get silicon, or something like it that I'll last a lifetime now? Neoprene maybe?
FridgeFreezer
I suspect that Halfords silicone pipe is designed for vacuum/boost not fuel. Small bore fuel pipe should do it, or push-fit nylon.
cackshifter
Might be worth checking the tank filler neck if there is a constant smell and it's not the return pipes - mine had developed a pinhole, which araldite sealed.
miketomcat
Silicone and diesel don't get on very well at all. Mike
mcc1979ian
Will replace the pipes between injectors first. the rest of the engines been a nightmare so their probably shot too. The fuel tank had all new gaskets and pipes when i fitted the engine so should be ok.
hangover
i think i used 1/8th inch fuel hose on mine, tight fit but wont ever come off.

Mike So too the LR stuff - I made the mistake of buying their replacement, complete with the unions, for a lot of money, and 18 months later the hoses were split again. Far better to buy the cheap hose on the roll than the Gen Parts replacement. If you can find decent hose on the roll, then so much the better.
